Religious folks, could an alien race make you change your religion?

Hypothetical:

What if an alien race came to earth and claimed they had found the true religion of the universe, and it is different from yours? They would have super technology and be able to show you how much more advanced they are then us. But the evidence for this "true" religion is so complex humans are unable to understand it, so they can't really prove to you they are correct.

Would you convert? Would you consider it? What would they have to do to convince you?

If I can't understand it, I would have to judge it on my own terms, like I have done with other religions.

Saying it was too complex makes it sound like current religions, so I don't think I'd be that impressed.

Probably not. Why should baubles and trinkets cause me to deny what I believe to be the truth? Technology is wonderful, but I fail to see how that should cause me to doubt the God that I believe created everything, including the race that just popped by for a visit.

Christianity is not complex. It's actually rather straightforward.

How about * you *? Many atheists out here regularly charge Christians as resistant to any scientific concepts. Now, here comes a race with technology beyond anything even a learned atheist could comprehend. Will you be smitten?

An alien race, in my perspective, wouldn't be any more of a reason to change than the fact that there are Hindus and Buddhists on the earth right now.

Now if Jesus came back with them, and showed that it was on a flying saucer that he "ascended into heaven" or something, that would be another matter.

If another alien race appeared, and the religions of their world had no similarities to any religion on earth, then I would not convert, all that would do is disprove that God is all knowing. I would go from Muslim to agnostic.

If their religion was exactly like any religion on earth, that would prove that specific religion.

hasn't happened yet though, doubt it will happen.

I'd look at the core beliefs of that particular religion.

    Is it monotheistic?

If so, then I wouldn't have a problem with it...because it would be parallel to my own beliefs.

I simply wouldn't "convert" to a religion because I do not like religion.

I guess I'll find out when it happens. At this moment...no I would not convert and I doubt I would consider it. They would probably need to take me in a time machine back to the beginning of creation.

If they can't show me the direct evidence...they could at least show me the evidence that shows the distinction between mine and their religion.

I would take it from there...but am pretty confident in saying that most likely I still would not change.

No. If a life form was capable of understanding things beyond what the human intellect could comprehend, then they wouldnt try to teach us anymore than we would try to teach a duck.

I'm sorry but I'm an agnostic and I am reading thru these answers, and they tickle me. They want "proof"? There is no proof in the current religions of the world.

No I would not convert, I'd wouldn't even consider it. They could not convince me.
