My cat thinks he's a dog!?

My cat and dog get along really well, they play and fight and they even chew on each other:) The problem is that the cat thinks he's a dog so he eats the dog food! We give our dog healthy choice by Purina. The cat always has food out for him, he shares it with my other cat, sometimes he will eat it, but if there is dog food in the bowl he goes right to it.

How bad is it for cats to eat dog food consistently? He's a pretty healthy cat, indoor/outdoor, almost a year old and big and muscular with a lot of energy.

Update:

It's about a 50/50 mixture of cat and dog food.

My boy cat Luigi does the same thing! he rolls around with my 8 year old boxer on the living room floor, he also eats the dogs food and drinks the dogs water! He'll only eat his own food if there is no dog food out. Funniest thing, completely normal though, all cats are different! I think that dog food is okay as long as your not feeding the cat too much of it.

is he eating only dog food? or does he just eat that sometimes but mostly eat his cat food? if most of his diet is cat food, then he is still getting the nutrients he needs, and a little dog food won't hurt. but if he is eating only the dog food, he isn't getting the right vitamins, dogs & cats require different nutrients to stay healthy.

SOUNDS LIKE A PRETTY HEALTHY CAT, AS LONG AS HE EATS SOMETIMES HIS CAT FOOD HE SHOULD BE ALL GOOD.
