Why is it in human history, the more knowledge there is, the more believable the supernatural becomes?

It seems like as humans gain more knowledge the claims of miracles, and other supernatural events become more within this knowledge.

For example, the first humans in the bible were created from dirt and a rib. If someone would have claimed they were created from dirt in 1920, they would be laughed at and thought of as crazy. In 1520, they might just be thought of as odd. In 1020 BC, they might be believed.

In general, supernatural events become more and more believable to the humans knowledge. Now days miracles are more like tears showing up on statues and pictures in toast. We don't have the insane miracles that have been claimed in the past.

Is this because God's actions, and other supernatural things, are becoming more toned down as time goes on? Or is it just convenient and evidence that humans make stuff up that they can convince their peers of? The more educated the peers get, the more believable you have to make your stories.

God only uses miracles for a purpose, usually to get someone back on the right path(such as Jonah).

The last biblical accounts of miracles in the Bible occur with the apostles, including healings and such. These were to gain the faith of people who had no knowledge of Christ. However, once the Christian population became large enough to spread without the aid of the supernatural, the miracles were stopped, as they no longer were needed.

not seen you in a while,

    hope your doing well

i woudl say maybe because knowledge is somehow more scary, to a lot of people, than lack of, as lack of, means it could be AAAAAAANYTHING they can think of, NOONE knows, but whensoemone knows, it takes away the uncertainty, which makes them feel, unsure, especially if it is proven to be something they didnt agree with, it leads them to question themselves, their knowledge and understnading, and most people, neither like that nor handle it well

humans NEED to make stuff up, as it makes them feel safe and secure, and even when its disproven, and something the opposite of what they thought is proven, they cant let go of that security

in saying all of that, being an agnostic to believer on most things, i suppose i may fall under these terms myself, although i dont think so, you never know

(i did quite well on that answer you know, im REAAAAAAAAALLY tired and have a cold, so im a bit all over th eplace ;-D )

...and the more established facts get added to bullshit religious doctrines. Take Mormons for example with their doctrine mentioning planets and a detailed description of the moon. That was around the time when the public was being made aware of other planets in our solar system and being made aware of what the moon really is. So the Mormons took advantage of this and mentioned these facts in their religious doctrine to make it sound more legitimate. Scientologists have done the same thing by mentioning aliens and other galaxies and spaceships.

It may be that the more knowledge that there is has many people disconnecting from knowledge or the inability to keep up and then they fall back on the supernatural for their beliefs.

    How about this miracle?

[10:88] Moses said, "Our Lord, you have given Pharaoh and his elders luxuries and wealth in this world. Our Lord, they only use them to repulse others from Your path. Our Lord, wipe out their wealth, and harden their hearts to prevent them from believing, until they see the painful retribution."

[10:89] He said, "Your prayer has been answered (O Moses and Aaron), so be steadfast, and do not follow the ways of those who do not know."

[10:90] We delivered the Children of Israel across the sea. Pharaoh and his troops pursued them, aggressively and sinfully. When drowning became a reality for him, he said, "I believe that there is no god except the One in whom the Children of Israel have believed; I am a submitter."

[10:91] "Too late! For you have rebelled already, and chose to be a transgressor.

[10:92] "Today, we will preserve your body, to set you up as a lesson for future generations." Unfortunately, many people are totally oblivious to our signs.

Pharoah's body was actually found, and the French scientist who found him realized that the Quranic revelations spoke truthfully, therefore he converted to Islam.

I would say that humans began making stuff up since the beginning. Has creativity been lost to so many people who question it?
