Why is the spell check on this very site incorrect.?
I just answered a question about music and used the singer Josh Groban in my answer. For whatever reason Yahoo spell check decided there was no singer by that last name. They sent me to check on Yahoo search engine. Guess what they are only correct with common every day words.
That was only one of the spell checks I am talking about and yes, I do understand the <person who spelled though> with a "t" at the end. Yahoo is the service I use for mail and many times they have attempted to correct words that are in the dictionary, English dictionary, I might add, and it is incorrect. If I were a great speller myself I would not rely on any other entity to spell or at least correct me if I am wrong. Sometimes I am not correct and would like to be corrected. If I knew, as another person said, why does it matter if I know I am right, the answer to that is, I do not know if I am right or I would not be checking.

Computers are meant to correct words that are not in the English dictionary. Groban is a proper noun, and thus is not in the English dictionary, so the computer says it is incorrect.

I'm guessing you don't use Word, or Pages much, right? In a computer's mind, proper nouns are never spelled right. I can't believe you didn't know that, thought.

it is so worrying. i flow to a private college, and confident they do nevertheless coach grammar and spelling. i do no longer comprehend approximately different faculties, yet a minimum of the academy i flow to nevertheless teaches those matters. Does it truly take any greater suitable attempt to push somewhat button that asserts verify Spelling? It makes you look knowledgeable and civilized in case you do. properly, save encouraging solid spelling behavior! (see, I only clicked verify Spelling, and there have been no misspellings! Wow, what do ya' comprehend! Huh!(- only had to place it to get somewhat on your nerves for relaxing!)

unless altered the spell checker is American English
it accepts gray and color but not grey and colour among others.

as long as you know it's spelled correctly, does it really matter? it's a computer. cut it some slack.
