Has anyone used oasis legal finance?

I am waiting to settle a lawsuit, and then got laid off. I was thinking of using Oasis Legal Finance. Anyone use them? How responsive are they? How long does it really take? and was it a pain for your attorney?

    Hi,

I'm very sorry to hear about your troubles! and am glad you asked this question - After over 5 years my case was finally paid - Oasis received more than I did :(

Almost a couple of years ago I signed the agreement to settle my case that had been ongoing for about 4-5 yrs and while talking to, who I thought was my lawyer and friend, I intimated the financial hardship I was in due to the fact that my husband was being held for a false claim that he had sold drugs to a one-time friend in another state(I call it false arrest, and he was later cleared of any wrong doing). She insisted that I take a 'loan'(cash advance on lawsuit) from Oasis to help me get through the crisis I was facing, and when I balked at the idea because of the cost of such a transaction, she firmly informed me that I "really didn't have much of a choice" and that I "would never have to pay the extra 'fees' associated" because my "case would be paid within the next 90 days", and she was "close friends with Mark(at Oasis) anyway..."

I finally relented and sent the paperwork to her and she processed everything for me. It was a small amount, and I ended up taking out two others because it was "so easy" and quick. I didn't really 'need' the money, but was assured that it was a "good thing to do if I needed any money at all..."

The last 'loan' I took out, I told Mark that I just wanted to make sure I kept it "under $10k so it wouldn't be so painful to pay back".

Now, I get my settlement, more than a year later - the woman that referred me to the process is 'mysteriously' no longer with the law firm and I'm out $19,200 (I had 'borrowed' $11,100) which was more than I ended up receiving for my lawsuit.

Long story short - if you don't HAVE a LIFE & DEATH NEED for your money, DON'T get this type of advance for it!!! You WILL be sorry! If I'd known what I know now, I wouldn't have touched this with a 10 foot pole. I would've done ANYTHING else to make do until my settlement funded and I wouldn't have mentioned my personal life to, who turned out to be just a 'client liaison', who I thought was my lawyer that was supposedly giving me INFORMED AND TRUSTWORTHY advice! I was later told that any information I was given by her was inaccurate and was never told what had happened to her. It was a very cold shock to say the least! :( I'm still wondering whether she was in an 'alliance' with the finance company!?!

I'm sorry for the long answer, but wanted to make sure I let you know exactly what happened to me in the hope that you will have enough information to make a good choice about this. I guess it works for some, but I surely wouldn't advise it....

I wish you much luck with your case and hope I helped a little :)

I was in a car accident where I was stopped at a red light and got rearended... I called oasis and was told they couldn't help me... A year later I called them again because of all the injuries I sustained and couldn't work any more, again the said they couldn't help me... 4 yrs later I was awarded $100,000. I'm so glad they couldn't help me because I didn't have to pay them back... but after paying the lawyers I still walked away with quite a bit of money... They are very rude and judgemental about who they help... And yes you're credit standing does count!

I used them, and I can say RIP-OFF without blinking an eye..... Sure they were more than willing to loan me the funds I needed, the loan was $18,000... the contract said a 2 year pay-off was $26,000. which I understand they need funding to keep going. What they didn't tell me was if I didn't pay the loan at an $1100 monthly pay back rate in the 2 year period which is now getting ready to be paid there are hidden fees at 3% here and 3% there and other crap..... they proceed to tell me it is also accruing $18 a day as long as it isn't paid. but in reality I am being charged $36 per day since the loan has been taken out which comes to the amount of $44,000 so if anyone can make it without having to use this company please do!!

I would definitely take a look at Redwood Funding Group and compare their rates to Oasis. In my searches, I have found Redwood Funding to be the cheapest. No fees or compounding and just one fixed rate of 15% every six months.

Oasis refuses to answer my question regarding interest rates and fees in writing. They say I must call and speak to them. Probably so they can talk me into it. They were even successful in convincing the Better business Bureau into giving them an A-Plus rating. After reading these responses I think t would be better to look for a loan shark.

While nearly all pre-settlement funders charge rates that compound monthly or even daily, Bridgeway offers funding at a non-compounding, “simple interest”, rate. The savings to your client by having a non-compounding rate can translate into thousands of dollars each year!

Bridgeway Legal Funding offers personal service from a small team to make the process as simple and efficient as possible. Most clients can be approved with 1 phone call with your office.

Visit there website www.bridgewaylf.com or give them a call to apply!
