Female nudity has been far more common in mainstream movies for decades that's probably why more of the male variety has been shown recently. It has greater shock value- for example, in Sideways.

Before porn became a multi-billion dollar industry, unrated and softcore films of the 1970s and 1980s had more nudity than you could shake a blue radioactive stick it.

After the recent surge of penises in movies (Forgetting Sarah Marshal, Zack&Miri, Watchman etc) I was wondering if there was an equivalent for vagina?

The answer is that there are precious few mainstream movies that have shown the vulva (the cleft of the female pubic triangle). I think I can count about 5 but even with these you wouldn t want to blink or you d miss it. To my knowledge there are no TV series that have. This is indeed strange because it is this cleft that goes to the essence of being a woman. Without it they are no more than eunuchs

Some argue that the reason is that the vulva is not normally visible without the adoption of porn like poses, but this is rubbish. One would expect that most actresses shave or trim their pubic hair as statistics indicate that most women do and why would actresses be any different. Where the actress is fully or partly shaven it is clearly visible (see the movie Trance for instance, one of the precious few that I mentioned).

So the truth is that all of these movies that are claimed to show female genitalia (other than the few exceptions I mentioned) actually don t. The result is achieved with the use of either obtuse camera angles, selective blurring or the wearing of merkins. This is in comparison to the free for all on penises, even erect ones.

The reason for this is a combination of conservative values in the past and the power of women in today s society. Ancient Roman and Greek sculpture was guilty of this double standard and the plaque on the pioneer space craft which originally showed both the man and the woman in an anatomically correct state was censored to remove the vulva cleft. Today, its the influence of the feminists that produces this result. Its kind of ironic when you consider Germaine Greer s "Female Eunuch". It is the feminists themselves that now insist women be depicted as eunuchs.

I was watching the show "The Borgias" on Netflix - the double standard for male nudity in that show was nothing sort of horrific. I'm not even one to care about that sort of stuff.

But holy ****, they are literally showing upside down men completely naked, ***** and balls flopping around in plain view as they get cut in half. Next they shove a stick in this guys *** - again completely naked dick flopping around. But then they have the nerve to cover up even the slightest hint of female genitalia...

Its like males don't have any self respect anymore.. horrifying double standards. I have never seen anything like what I just saw in that mainstream film.

The question is very legit but the responses are pretty typical. We see a lot of penises in movies nowadays but have yet to see an actual labia (sorry responders but showing some skin or fake pubic hair does not equal female frontal nudity in my book). Hollywood has made a deliberate effort to NOT show the vagina for reasons that I cannot understand. Do most guys want to see it... HELL YEAH!!!

Truth is, women have tended to control censorship and blackmailed society into all kinds of double standards. They say exposure of female genitalia would involve women in unnatural positions. I wonder how unnatural child birth is, just for instance.

Yes ..you are right ..forgive me as I'm Italian. My English is not perfect..My sister works now for youtube censorship team..and worked before for MPAA..I asked her this question. She answered me that..when she got her job in youtube censorship. .she found that most of the censorship teams are females and they are under pressure from fiminists lobbies to take down female nudity as fast possible..and to keep male nudity as could as possible. so you can watch tons videos on you tube contain male nudity..penises ..male masturbation. .and gays videos. .but rare of females of the same kind..these instructions are not written. .because it's against youtube policies .and when she asked about the reason.they told her that "just do it "simply because females control censorship in all media. This is truth.and yes they blackmail society. because they believe they are stronger than males in USA..Hollywood does the same thins..showing penises even erected is allowed. .but vaginas are forbidden.
