What do you think most people would do with a "found" wallet?

Assume it has both ID and cash.

1)Return it in full?

2)Keep the cash, return the wallet?

3)Say that you would return both, but actually keep all or part?

Would your answer be different if the found item belonged to a corporation or known thief?

I don't know, maybe most would keep the cash(or some) and return the wallet. I would return all though. If I knew it was from a corporation, I would try to contact them somehow, or just walk in and explain. If it was from a known thief, any items I knew(not that I would) belonged to him, I'd return. Any that I was unsure of, and didn't know who they belonged to, I'd probably just leave it where I found it, or take it to a police dept. maybe.

I have had wallets returned, purses returned, all with substantial money in them... people didn't even leave their names so I could thank them.

So to reinforce the belief that what goes around comes around, I always return lost items, no matter what.

I've found 2 wallets, both with i.d in them. One had money, the other didn't. I returned both of them. I just think about how I'd feel if I lost my wallet and nobody bothered to return it. I'd feel pretty crappy.

my answer would be the same regardless of the owner. #1. i have lost a wallet or 2 in my day and the hassle of replacing the items is a real pain. the golden rule is a good rule to follow.
