Does Feliway work on urination that is not urine spray marking but is simply the emptying of the cat's bladder?
I know that Feliway is intended to mimic, or it might actually be, feline pheromones to control where a cat will urine mark.
My question is does Feliway have any effect on urination outside the litter box which is merely urination, not territorial urine spray marking?
Will it help stop a cat from urinating outside the litter box when the urinating is not the marking of territory but simply the emptying of the cat's bladder?
I am not asking for medical advise and I'm not talking about a specific cat.
I am asking for advise and experience about Feliway use for improper urination as opposed to territorial marking
Please read my complete question before answering.
Thank you
Thank you, I know that about stress and such.
Please read my question in totality and without reading anything else into it before answering.
Does anyone have specific experience with Feliway, not "I heard this" or "I read this", but actual experience with the product as regards it helping to eliminate urination outside the litter box which is not territorial marking?
Does it only work to reduce or eliminate territorial urine marking or does it affect other urination behavior?
Thank you

Feliway works on some cats and not on others. It will work for a multitude of problems. I've had luck with it using it for one of my cats - he liked to torment my little female, and it really brought harmony to the household. It may work very well in situations involving stress or aggression - it's a "happy smell" for cats, very similar to the scent they put out when face marking their spots. So the cat feels that all is well, and the stress-caused behavior *may* stop.
It may work for any type of stress situation - and that includes ones where the end result is territorial peeing. However, it's not a cure for peeing caused by other issues, such as a dirty litter box, a cat who doesn't' like the location, the litter, the covered box. It certainly won't help a cat who's got a UTI and is going out of the box due to pain, and it won't stop an unneutered cat from spraying, or an unspayed female in heat to urine mark.

Do you know for sure that this cat is urinating outside the box due to behavior issues? If a medical cause is ruled out, the Feliway can still be useful, as the pheremone tends to calm cats down to some degree. Make sure you've ruled out a medical reason for the inappropriate urination first.

I am not much of a fan of Feliway - only have heard reports that it can help with cat behavior problems.
In your case I think you should look into using flower essences for your cat. You can go to: http://www.spiritessence.com/ and look over Dr. Jean Hovfe's combinations for cat behavior. For a fee Dr. Hovfe can be consulted on an individual case. Also many professional animal communicators are skilled in recommending flower essence combinations.
Something from Dr. Hovfe is a good place to start as that it the least expensive way to go (half the price of Feliway).

Could be a kidney stone or a bladder infection. Both would justify a visit to the emergency room. A kidney stone would earn you some meds, a Renal Cat Scan and possibly a visit with a urologist. A bladder infection earns you some antibiotics. Both are neither to delay treatment on.

Feliway is a synthetic phermone that decreases stress in cats.
Many times a cat ith urinary tract issue is suffering from pain, stress or some form of discomfort.
The feliway works to eliminate the stress that winds up the pain/discomfort making it more likely they will return to the litter box.
If at cat is urinating outside the box I gaurentee thy are in discomfort and stressed out.
It may not eradicate the unwanted behavior but it will soothe the cat.
One would still need to change up the litter box to get the cat to return to it.
As once a cat equates litter box with pain they will not use it.
So adding the feliway changing the litter box (uncovered..cover it,covered ..uncover it) will allow the cat to form new memories.
A cat who is uinating outside the box needs their pain addressed.
In conjunction with feliway and litter box changes hopefully they will head back to the box!
