Does my kitten have an infection or is this normal?

My 6 month old kitten was neutered last week. The area around the stitch's is raised and hard. Is his a normal way for him to heal? Do I need to take him to the Animal Hospital right away, or can I wait to see the vet in the morning?

As long as it's not swollen, red, oozing or hot to the touch then he should be fine. If he does have any of these signs then he needs to go back to the vet as these are all signs of infection. A little bit of "hardening" is normal as the body is healing itself and forming scar tissue. You had mentioned earlier that he had an abdominal incision as well which pointed to him most likely being cryptorchid, this surgery is more invasive(much like a spay) so be sure to keep a close eye on it.
