About top contributors: Does this annoy you?

The reason many of those become top contributors is because they can vote for their own answers as the best answer, and not many people answered those questions. I have seen someone has like 96% best answer. That's absurb.

The truth is that if the askers take a little time to pick the best answer, the top contributors would be more likely those who are helpful. But who knows? I have seen a lot askers just want people to agree with them, they don't really look for people's opinions.

You will never see me answer with a 1 or 2 word answer. I will babble until your eyes cry "No more!"

But yes, if a person is a TC they should at least put the effort in, right? Represent.

LOL: Carborane's onto something below me, there's a TC in Football with more BA's than is possible for the short time he/she's been on Y/A. (#1 Top with BA's) What can you do though, I mean it's just that important to some people. I like being a TC but really, who has the time for that kind of garbage. Much more pride in ones you earn. 96% of my time is spent in baseball and football, you're bound to collect a TC badge if you answer with knowledge and thought enough Q's after a while.

Well, usually Top Contributor answers are good. They have to give good answers and get chosen as "best answer" to remain a TC. But, they also need points--just like everyone else. So, maybe if they know they can't get best answer on a question, they decide to at least give some answer, no matter how simple....to get the 2 points.

But to be a TC, you have to get at least like 12% Best Answer in that section, so they also have to give good answers sometimes. BUt really, it bugs me when anyone gives a meaningless 2 word answer lol

You know, most of the Top Contributors who answer my post leave good answers/suggestions. I don't think that I've ran across one who just posted to be posting. I think the subject area has a lot to do with it. That would be annoying tho...

YES! I hate that! Sometimes they answer questions with 2 words like you said or they just make up a stupid answer to get the points. It's really not fair. I put a lot of effort into my answers and only answer ones I know the answer to.

I try to answer a question with as much detail as I can offer, I can see why alot of Top Contributors do that, they figure since they are one that they dont have to give detailed answers anymore, they might feel ike they're above that since there a Top Contributor.

yea they just get to be top contributers because they answered a lot of questions that doesn't really make sense but i am not saying this about all top contributors but yea it is true that rule should be changed

They would not be there if you askers would select a best answer now and again. About 3/4ths of the time you don't, so a bogus TC can sneak back and vote for himself. 2 points for answering, 1 for voting, 10 for BA - all for two words. At 13 points per answer, the points add up quickly and pretty soon you get a TC badge.

Yes I do. Half the people in the C&A section give two word answers and get BA because their friends are the ones who asked it in the first place.
