Is it worth going to the doctors?

I got backed into by a horse yesterday and got my pinky toe stepped on pretty badly. It's discolored and swollen, and where it usually is kinda turned out it is straight. Is it worth going to the doctors to get it checked, or is it just an extra medical bill because there isn't much they can do? Would they give me crutches so I can stop having to walk on it?

I am a medical assistant and I can tell you that doctors wont (cant) do anything for a broken toe, unless there is a bone in the foot that is broken as well. They will probably give you some pain medication (most likely Motrin) and send you on your way.

Unless there is a grossly displaced fracture they won't be able to do anything. The only thing they can do, if neccessary, is orthopedic surgery.

I wouldn't wast the time or money to get it checked out. Just take it easy and try splinting it to the adjacent toe.

put a popsicle stick under it, and tape it tighly to the next toe. Not worth the doctor!!
