Our indoor/ outdoor cat still has fleas?

Is there anything better than advantage? She still has fleas. We put it on her once a month. Am I doing it wrong? Should I Use something else along with it?

If you are using Advantage, that should be working on the fleas on the cat. The problem you have is that the fleas and eggs have already got into your furnishings and carpet, so are breeding and jumping onto the cat creating a new cycle.

To break the cycle, you need to use Advantage on the cat and get a prescription-strength spray (available ONLY from the vet) to use on your soft furnishings and carpets. Don't bother getting sprays from shops, they are not strong enough and a waste of money.

Once you have broken the cycle with the fleas and the eggs, you can then go back to using Advantage on its own.

Is that the one from the vet?

I used the one from the vets, and it worked, and my cats escaped quite often, wed see fleas off and on, but it worked like a dream.

I was reading, that certain areas, are developing super fleas that are getting more and more immune to the drops.

All you can do is vacuum every day, wipe down tables or vacuum where the cat sits on the couch, and use a flea comb too, do that outside away from your front door. I kept a pan of hot soapy water, combed the cat and wiped the fleas off with a rag into the hot water, dont dip the comb if you put soap, cat will get sick from the soap!

I hope your not in the super flea area. Vacuuming is key even if you can do it twice a day to get rid of those eggs. Mop the kitchen floors, just maintian flea egg free areas.

PS the store drops didnt work for us, the stuff from the vets worked right away, in a few hours, we put the cat on the table and fleas were falling off dead, thats how fast it started, so then all the fleas in the carpet bit the cat and died too.

With this time of year the fleas are starting to breed. In a case of a cat that continues to go outside you would not only need a professional to spray the inside of the house(because they can lay eggs in carpet), but the outside as well. Then after the cleaning continue with the advantage and use a carpet cleaner that kills fleas once every week for the next month.

Yes, it is a good idea to apply Frontline now if you are having a flea problem and alot of people do continue treatment all year round. Flea eggs can and do lay dormant for LONG periods of time before hatching so if the animal is receiving a flea treatment this problem is of no concern. Good Luck, Tammy

I would use a flea collar and brush her with a flea comb once a week in addition to the dipping.

throw the cat away and try to keep the fleas alive if you still can
