Did this jehovah's witness tell me the truth?

as many of you know, I have been studying via the internet with a Jehovah's Witness i met on this board. i asked him the following question based on things i have heard and learned about JWs. I noticed that there have been quite a few questions on yahoo that are similar to the statement I made in our study document. i had to suspend the study due to a lack of intellectual honesty on the part of the JW. it turned out he was quoting the Watchtower and claiming it was his own words. On that point aand a few others i became disillusioned with the man and suspected he was not telling me the truth in some cases.

Anyway, here is the quote from our study:

We are not members of any group that might throw us out or sanction us in some way if we openly profess to believe in accordance with what we find to be true as a result of this investigation. We have no family members who will think less of us in the slightest of ways if we begin to believe in the Bible or cease to believe in the Bible as the case may be. We can truly say that there will be no negative consequences of our changing our beliefs and openly professing to everyone we know that our beliefs have changed, therefore we need not fear the results of an honest investigation. We are truly free to believe whatever we chose to believe without negative repercussions of any kind or degree.

His answer to this statement was that he would not suffer any negative results from this study if it turned out that he had to change his beliefs. He said that there would be no negative results if he changed his belief in any doctrines, or even the Bible as a whole.

After reading many questions here, and watchtower literature, i feel he lied to me on this point. i think it is rather common knowledge that once you join the jWs you can never change your beliefs to conflict with JW doctrine, and if you do, you will most certainly suffer social destruction in your life to say the least, unless you hide your new beliefs and do not admit them to any JW member.

Just what is the truth on this matter? Can you change your beliefs as a JW without il effects? Can you stop being a JW in other words without it impacting your JW relationships?

Are you sure, you are not studying with an Ex-JW or an apostate? You can't become one of JW's without first examining the Bible and comparing others' beliefs to the Bible and come to conclusion that the Bible is truly says what it says. I did extensive comparison of many religions and beliefs to the Bible. I even tried to look for errors in JW's religion with the Bibles that were not NWT. After the investigating of other religions for a while, I came to the conclusion that JW's belief is harmony with the Bible. If they are not the one truth religion, there is no God but I know God does exist so I dedicated my life to serve God with inform knowledge not from blind faith.

Not everyone or most of people will find the truth due Satan being the ruler of this world at the present time.

The Bible says there is only one true religion and no you can not be JW and be something else. Either you serve the one true God, or you don't. There is only two sides to choose from (either you with God or against God).

Eph 4:5-6: one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all [persons], who is over all and through all and in all.

1 Cor 10:21: YOU cannot be drinking the cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons; YOU cannot be partaking of “the table of Jehovah” and the table of demons.

Money and power, that's why. So let me get this straight, you condone their activities because you are not leaving the organization, pure and simple. You say you don't leave because you will lose your family...bull!!! If a family or family member picks a stupid, ignorant religious group over their own family, then they are not worth it. Sorry, I know you don't want to hear this, but it is the truth. You can't live your life for someone else, get out of there and do your own thing. If your family shuns you for that then they are the ones losing. All of you Jehovah's Witness, stop making excuses and condoning their illegal and immoral activities and leave. People who allow religion to tell them what to do and to run their life, I'm sorry, I have no respect for people like that.

    So he said the following:

"We are truly free to believe whatever we chose to believe without negative repercussions of any kind or degree."

If he did say that, I cannot believe it. For example, if you tell people in your Kingdom Hall that you believe in the trinity, think blood transfusions are OK, celebrate birthdays, and think Jesus died on a cross, then you certainly would get into some trouble.

I don't think they would let you stay in the group if you openly made such professions.

Are you sure that you were studying with a "real" Jehovah's Witness?

A lot of people come on this site and claim to be Witnesses and everything else....but most of these people lie!

You have to make sure of all things..

Why don't you just visit your local Kingdom Hall and set up a Bible study with a qualified elder or pioneer and that way you will know for a certainty that you are getting the whole truth.

Studying by internet is not the best way to learn about what Jehovah Witnesses believe. People are not always who they seem, especially on the internet.

If you wish to have a study and find answers to those questions either go to a local Kingdom Hall and ask for one or you could go to www.watchtower.org and ask for a Bible study using any Bible you like.

Alternatively, you can email me and we can discuss some questions you may have.

He may not have lied per se' but may be unaware that he would be ex-communicated and even his own family would be forced by the JW's to have no contact with him or face being ex-communicated themselves. So, maybe you should show those truths to him from his own literature or perhaps a link to the info on a JW site.

I'm living proof that is a lie. I'm not sure who this person is you are referring to but I wouldn't doubt they are a "real" Jehovah's Witness. It's not like he/she is not accompanied in these "white lies" by other witnesses on this forum.

Many times witnesses will lie by omission of complete facts on this forum. It is nothing new, yet I find it ironic that witnesses are quick to call someone a "fake" JW everytime an issue arises that makes them look bad.

Your a "real" JW as long as you agree with them. The moment you don't you're "pretending" to be a JW.

    Ha!

If he stopped believing in the teachings of JW, then surely he would stop attending the functions of that group and that would impact his relationship with those who continue to practice those beliefs.'

    Why would you think otherwise?

It would be the same in any organization.

Don't believe the JW. It is a cult. They are teaching the wrong gospel.

They are anti Christ in disguise. They believe that Jehovah created Jesus, made Him a lesser God to help Him in creation.

I think what he meant by changes is changes in their doctrines. JW usually change their doctrines if they realized they were wrong.

Would you believe such a group who will tell you that this is the truth then after many years change their doctrines. What are their motives?

I think like most organizations is fame, power, and money.

I tell you the truth. There is no salvation outside Jesus Christ. "He was the express image of the invisible God." "He was God that has manifested in the flesh. " "For in Him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."

" For there is none other Name given among men under heaven whereby we must be saved." "For whoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved". The scriptures talk about Jesus but JW changed the scriptures into: "For whoever shall call upon the name of Jehovah shall be saved."

The scripture said that in everything we do, We should do it in the Name of Jesus.

Jesus said to His disciples, You are my witnesses, Go and preach the gospel to all the worlds. The JW don't believe Jesus' words. instead of being a witness to Jesus they claim that they are a witness to Jehovah. They are not indeed witnesses of Jehovah, but they are liars. They are blinds leading the blinds.

i think he was not really a witness.

we have a lot of them here. one chicklette in particular presented herself as a witness and then went in and answered her own questions.

    kinda cybil on cyberspace.

any questions, you can go to www.watchtower.org, ask for a visit and see a real witness of Jehovah face to face.

then, if you can only study/ discuss via phone or email or letters, that's fine.

that is how we conduct our bible studies with many of the prisoners in the usa & canada.
