Is this really what Christians think?

I answered the question"Why do you hate religion?" The body of the question said that Christians didn't split up families, weren't locked up in prison, didn't hit people with sticks. My response listed times in my life where they had done just that. Below are the e-mails I got in response. Please tell me that this isn't what evangelism has come to!

From: unknown?

Subject: respect

Message: I respect you and anyone else and any color,Country, Christians ,non Christians, believers, and non believer. These are just questions and as long there is no names on it,it should be no problem because no one has or had to answer any question asked in Q&A

From: unknown?

Subject: husband left

Message: sorry for your hard life but people of Christ do suffer a lot.Bible does talk about false teachers of the word. But i believe any one can read the Bible

My heart grieves for the pain you suffered, at the hands of another.. :(

You have a heart filled with ~Love~ and mutual respect toward others..

My experiences were just the total opposite of yours..I was not a believer in God..

When you ask a question like that, it's so general that I have it being almost without meaning. Not all Christians think the same thing, and within the teaching of Jesus and every other spiritual icon I know about, there's room for a certain amount of interpretation. I have also found that to be true of atheism (I'm a member of the Richard Dawkins Forum.). If you're looking for hypocrites, they are easy to find in organized religions, but they're also easy to find in politics, business, entertainment, sports, academia, science and a lot of other places in life. By me, living one's life by Christian principles is about being the most honorable and loving person you can be. What's also true is that neither Christians or anybody else have a monopoly on love; it's available to everybody. Best wishes!

I would like to point out that Judas followed Christ for three years. From all outward appearances, he appeared to be the real deal. Christ, however, called him a devil and he eventually proved that to be true by his actions.

Not all that profess to be Christian are. You can tell those that are true Christians by their fruit.

I do think that even Christians will have hardships in the world though. Jesus said:

John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

People are going to suffer, thats inevitable. In the bible it says over and over that God's people will suffer. But if you can stick through that and keep your faith and be the best person you can possibly be and follow Christ, it will all be worth it. Nothing anyone can say will be able to make you see the truth, though. you have to be willing and see it yourself.

Nobody's perfect, so of course Christians do many things wrong.

    God bless :)

Well, I would say that I don't really know you or what you have experienced in life. If Christians were mistreating you, then you should know that they were not representing Jesus in their actions or words. Read the Gospel's and learn what Jesus was really about and you'll come to find the beauty that Christians see in Him.

Read Job and you can understand Christian suffering in better detail. You do seem capable of being able to read.

Have you noticed the ratio of half-illiterate Christians to half-illiterate Atheists is very one-sided? Think about it, and its implications.
