Is the rumour about apple lowering its prices true?

I've heard a bunch of people commenting that because of the crisis, apple will be lowering its prices sometime during the following months.

I'm particularly worried because I was planning to purchase a 17-inch macbook pro for college, and given the nearly 3000 price tag, I need to know whether I should wait for this "price lowering" or just buy it now.

Have you heard anything? Do you think it's possible?

Thank you all for your input! :)

I doubt Apple will lower their prices. The numbers for the last two quarters of sales have been very strong - even in the middle of the recession! They have cut back slightly on the number of computers they make, but only by like 2% over last year at this time. Apple is doing just fine and I seriously doubt they will cut prices on their computers. The AppleTV and TimeCapsule maybe, but not their computers and definately not the top end MacBook Pro.

Besides, MacRumor's Buyers Guide (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook_Pro) says now is a "neutral" time to buy the MacBook Pro because there's no big news expected. They have been really accurate for a long time when it comes to their buyer's guide.

    Good luck!

No, they never really lower their price, only release new models as time goes on. And you do get a edcuation discount if you're a student. Get it now because the macbook pros now come with a free printer:

Usually MACINTOSH would state that in its website, so check there.
