Question about cleansing?

I'm 14 years old, and my friend is doing a 5 day cleansing (same age) that her family does every 6 months. My step-father, who always likes to mess with me, said that cleansing is for insecure woman who are dissatisfied with their body and is not supposed to be used for the teenage population. I'm not really insecure, but I've heard that cleansing is good for your body and I wanted to try it out. Is it true that it's not healthy for a 14 year old? Thanks.

It will not be beneficial for you.

I'm assuming that such a cleansing process is assisted by laxatives or some other type of medication? If so, you can expect extreme dehydration. Dehydration happens when the cells of your body contract and lose water--making them less functional (i.e. less healthy).

Your body is made up of 55% to 78% water. Unless you are morbidly obese, I see no potential gain from cleansing your (young and healthy) bowels.

It is not healthy... when you suddenly do that to your body the bacteria in your colon come out as well so you do not digest food as well so it will get gunky again. It is not as good for your body as a consistent diet of fiber
