Romantic Engagement Stories.?

What is the most romantic engagement story? Either your experience or maybe a story you've heard of. As many details as you can please

Update:

I'll share: told her I was going to ask her but not yet and to start planning the wedding. 3 months later I left her note #1 to meet me at a friends to play cards. Friend was waiting with note #2 saying where dinner was and to start getting excited. Restaruant mgr welcomed us by name and #3 was waiting on table. After dinner the note said to ask the mgr hotel suggestions and told her to start breathing heavy because it's really getting good, she did and he gave her a hotel key. Went to hotel and as she opened the door I had placed rose pedals from the door through the room to a bear on a table. She shut the door and started to cry. When she made it to the bear, he was holding a ring box. The box was empty with the final note asking for her hand. When she turned around I was on my knee with ring in hand. Just seconds after she said yes room service came to the door with champagne and strawberries with a "congrats, I hope?". Guys it's worth the trouble to plan,...best sex ever! haha

I organised a romantic dinner so I could pop the question - I had arranged for the waiter to put the ring on the dessert plate and for a band to play our song. Just before I was meant to pick her up, she called and said that she was sick, and couldn't come out.

Without telling her, I went to the shops and bought some things for her, including a teddy bear with "get well soon" written on its tummy, and went round to see her.

When I got to her house, I found her in bed with my dad.

this was my friend's story - we'll call her sarah

her now fiance (call him john) worked it out with a couple that sarah had been close with forever - he knew how important they were so john wanted them to be a part of it - every week they get together to watch tv

he had the husband (joe) take sarah into the bedroom to show her a necklace he had gotten his wife for their upcoming anniversary

they closed the door behind them like they were trying to hide the gift and he opened a box that did have a necklace in it...but it also had a note that said "open the door"

she got all confused and finally joe had to tell her to open the door

john was there on the other side, on one knee, as she opened the door he asked, "will you marry me?"

sarah responded, "are you f#*$ing kidding me?" (she was in shock)

once she figured out what was going on she said, "of course" and a few other friends came over, drank some wine & celebrated

she was sure she would throw up on someone if they ever asked - luckily she was wrong :)

    mine wasn't very sweet

i knew he picked up the ring that day & he kept teasing me that he was going to make me wait

we were at his god-daughter/cousin's birthday

on the way home he passed a really pretty spot that i was sure he was going to stop at... so i started thinking he really was going to make me wait

much closer to home he passed our exit - i didn't want to know but i suspected

he pulled down a road leading to a little park overlooking the hudson river...

we got out of the car & walked a bit then he got down on one knee...

the thing that made it really special was he used my full name - first, middle, last - i never mentioned it to anyone but every time i thought about it growing up i always imagined whoever proposed would do that - it was wonderful

One I heard of is similar to that newer Christmas commercial. This couple had it on myspace. Okay, one day, this man went home with four gifts. The first one was a box of tissues, the second one was a packet of hot sauce from taco bell, the third was a 5 dollar bill, and the fourth, an engagement ring. The tissues was for crying of course, the hot sauce was a packet from taco bell that said will u marry me? the 5 dollars was because they're goofy, and the woman bet the man that they would be broke up within a year! And the ring was of course to get married! I saw this and bout cried! So sweet!

For me, simple is best. A view of city lights, and just the two of us together. And a 4 carat ring.
