If i restore my hp laptop to factory settings will it erase entire hard drive?

Hi! I have a hp pavilion dv6000 series laptop. I have special drive on my hard disk from where i can restore my pc to original factory settings.

My question is, if i do restore to original factory settings, will it erase all my partitions? will all my project files, games, pics and songs will be erased from the non os partition?

Please help! Since i need to restore my PC to original settings ASAP

Thanks

When you restore a pc back to factory settings it erases everything to the point where all thats on the hd is the os. After a pc has been reset to factory defaults then it will be like you just got it out of the box. Were your files on there when you got it out of the box? If not then no, your files will all be lost. Backup your files before you restore your pc.

    Hp Restore To Factory Settings

It sounds like you're in the BIOS setup, if that's so restoring factory defaults won't do any harm, but should be avoided. If you're not in the BIOS setup.... 1. Reboot, and repeatedly press F10 at the HP logo until the recovery screen appears. 2. When the recovery screen appears, press "Next" and then "Yes" to perform a non-destructive recovery (all data saved). After the recovery is finished, the laptop will reboot. Or to perform a destructive recovery, (***This will erase all your unsaved data!***) Click "Advanced" and then "Yes". After the recovery is finished, the laptop will reboot. Or Reboot, and repeatedly press F11. Follow on screen prompts. ©Techno
