Why is the butter falling out of my butter bell?

I have a butter bell, and the butter falls out into the water. I am using it as the instructions say, and my kitchen is about 75 degrees or less. It is a well known brand that had excellent reviews.

Wash your Butter Bell and DRY it. Pack 1/4 pound of butter (1 stick) in it and pack it in tight. Put it upside down in bottom of bell filled with cold water. It should stay. I've found that you have to put it in the dry bell. That way it sticks. Change the water every 2 days.

i agree with cricket your butter and bell must be dry and cleaned between each stick for it to stick in the bell
