Has anyone one been following the news about flea treatments?

There are quite a few news reports about over-the-counter flea treatments sickening and killing cats and dogs.

Fontline, Advantage, and Revolution don't seem to be involved. Just the spot treatments being made by other companies.

Personally, there is enough out there to make me even more sure to use only Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution on our cats.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with other products causing problems?

It's good that you are letting everyone know about this as many people on this site do use Hartz flea treatment among others. I only use Revolution from the vet. Hope everyone will see this!

Yes, I've known about the spot-on flea control products causing major health problems in cats for years. My cat almost died from one of these products. I did everything humanly possible to warn others: I reported it to the EPA, and did my best to inform the company about my cat's severe reaction. This is a very serious problem. I'm glad it's finally coming to the forefront in the news.

We;re not using frontline anymore, for some reason it seems to have burned the skin on my cat (Where it was applied) and fur hasn't grown back. So we're not sure what we're doing this year but so far we haven't had an issue with fleas at all

Exactly, I have heard this about Hartz also. It can cause skin problems which can become so severe that the pet dies. I would advise that everyone only get their meds from their vet, including their flea treatments.
