is anybody else tired of cartoon network watchers who call themselves anime fans?

Update:

i never said that there's anything wrong withe cartoon network...but don't call yourself a fan of anime when you don't know anything about anime that goes beyond one piece, death note, or bleach.

Update 2:

if the question is so pointless, then don't answer it. it's just that simple :)

Update 3:

okay, smartie pants eli...if i'm such an obsessed loser for having my opinion, what does it make you for spending all of this time trying to debunk my reasoning? i am not elitist either...just calling them how i see them.

Whether or not they are cartoon network anime watchers doesn't matter to me.

The only thing that gets on my nerves is when a person has only seen a handful of anime series, yet already has a huge opinion on what the "best" series is- and then begin to shout about this at the top of their lungs whenever they see an even semi-sortof related question.

I mean honestly, if you had only seen 10 movies, could you call yourself a movie buff? Not really. If you had only read 8 novels, would your top 5 list of books be worth anything at all? Hardly.

So why are there so many "anime fans" out there that do this when they have only seen half a dozen out of the thousands of anime out there?

This sounds rather elitist. Who are you to say someone's not a fan of anime, or anything for that matter? What difference does it make if someone watches Cartoon Network?

edit: Says who? Who determines what allows you to call yourself a fan of something or not? What series are you 'required' to have seen before you're allowed to call yourself a fan? Who determines that, you?

The simple act of saying that someone else is not a fan because they don't know or haven't seen as much of something as you is basically the definition of elitism. People make up BS rules like "anyone who likes dubs isn't a TRUE fan" when they have no authority to make such a statement.

I read comics, personally. I'm a comic fan, period. I've read a little bit of everything, from every company, every country, every genre, every decade. Marvel and DC, Manga, comics from Europe and South America, from Tintin and Archie to Conan and Heavy Metal to Ranma 1/2 and Blade of the Immortal. I even have an issue of Spider-Man in Russian. If I haven't read it, I've at least heard of it and can probably tell you who wrote and drew it. But I would never tell someone else they're not a comic fan just because they only read X-Men or something. All I might do is encourage them to broaden their horizons and try more things, but there's no point in proving that you're a "superior fan" just because you've seen or read more than someone else has. Really, if such a thing matters greatly to you, so much so that you lord it over the "lesser" fans, congrats, all you've accomplished is showing that you're king of the obsessed losers. And it's not just anime fans. The same can apply to anything from video games to football teams.

I'd rather watch anime, then American cartoons any day of the week. We used to have cartoons worth watching, now a days, if the stupid things don't have characters puking, farting, making sexual comments, swearing, pointless violence, or doesn't look like it was drawn by a two year old, it isn't any good.

    Does it really matter?

Truthfully i started watching anime from Y.T.V but now i've entered a whole new world of anime (2 months ago). So maybe with there craze of anime they will do some more research to see how many awesome animes there are out there!

Someones not a fan of anime if they think dubs are better.

I mean, they're allowed to prefer dubs, due to things like being unable to read the subs fast enough, or beign dyslexic or something like that. As long as they acknowledge that the voice acting isn't as good, and that things are cut and edited.

This, by extension, includes the people who watch anime on cartoon network.

Yes I am elitist, that's because I'm a better anime fan than you, and I'm a jerk.

All anime noobs are all like this, you just have to learn to deal with it.

There's not much you can do about either, try to correct or educate them and they just get all indignant and such.

All you can really do is step back and let them remain in their ignorant state until they're ready to learn more. You can not teach a person that is not humble.
