If atheists really believe what they say, why don't they capitalize the word Truth?

Truth be told, I capitalize truth sometimes...

Perhaps atheists prefer to use proper grammar rules when using the English language. I'm certain atheists will capitalize the word "truth" when it is at the beginning of a sentence.

Learn English grammar, then maybe you'll get the gist of why a lot of things aren't capitalized. Oh, and some Atheist's like having Atheism capitalized.

Why should I? What does atheism have to do with capitalizing the word "Truth"? Must I also capitalize the word "Consequences"?

My atheism means that of all the hypothetical gods that believers have imagined and described, I don't think any of them are real. But I also don't think that silly monkeys like humans have much (if any) access to Truth. The best we can do is work toward being less wrong.

Too much work. Just like everybody in the Secret Atheist Club knows the secret handshake, we all know that "truth" is assumed to be capitalized.

  • 1 decade ago

Because "truth" is just a word. It's not an idea or a being to be worshipped.

OMG - so that's why Y!A Spellcheck is always trying to capitalize in the middle of a sentence! It wants to stamp out (t)ruth and atheism. May God preserve us...

People that capitalize 'Truth' tend to scare me.

It's usually a good indication of an unhealthy zeal.

Or trying to write like Hegel, also scary.

Wouldn't that make it a proper name and while it is proper to them, that would be almost as silly as capitalizing him when talking about your god.
