Troops in germany etc are slightly different ball game these days because of the UN. They aren't there to make sure Germany doesn't rise up again... There's still US bases in the UK... They aren't here to make sure ze germans stay under control either!! We have troops based across europe because it's closer to the current war zones (and possible future war zones)

As for troops leaving the middle east... They are there doing what they trained to do and want to do... yes it's obviously sad when one or two die in battle, but they went there knowing it could happen to them so I've got little sympathy to be honest...

If we hadn't gone to war, and Britain or somewhere in Europe got attacked like 9/11 did then I think more people would understand why we're out there... I've got many friends out in Afganistan at the moment... I'm concerned for their safety but you've got to remember that they all spent 5years training for it... I'd be terrified if I was sent out there to fight... They know what they are doing and will win eventually...

Troops are not getting sent out on dangerous missions in Germany and Japan but do in Iraq.

They get targeted just because they are American.

American people dont want their sons and daughters to keep dying for no reason (anymore).

On another point: Bring them back from Germany and Japan!

How silly you are dear. We are there because we have to maintain our presence around the world...we built up Germany and other countries after THEY started the war. IF we pulled out we are isolated and cannot protect our interests and our country. We are there for many reasons......get educated as to WHY we are there.

Since Germany was responsible for TWO world wars...why trust them?

I am not prejudiced against them either. My grandfather was German....and he was GLAD we stayed there!

As for Iraq....Americans are famous for not following through and not keeping promises because American People get tired after awhile and like you think it is ok to go. We make promises you don't understand and you get tired of things.. I do too..but last time we pulled out thousands were killed and we had to watch it and couldn't do anything about it. We were forced by AMERICA to pull away and let it happen.

(first war in Iraq) Even Collin Powell was horrified at how we pulled out and how he had to negotiate a peace when he wasn't told about it and what to do...and they were allowed to keep their Equipment and weapons etc. READ his book....and you will find out why America is hated... we cannot be trusted to keep our promises because of the American People who don't understand crap about it. They get way patriotic and yell to strike back and then after the initial rush...it is get our troops home.....way before the job is done and stable.

Don't you think for one minute the terrorists KNOW HOW SILLY WE ARE and HOW EASY WE GIVE UP? Of course they do...they are biding their time to create hell there again....and there will never be peace if we pull away completely and don't see it through and give them support until they can take care of their problems themselves.

You forget...they were a nation of TOTAL CONTROL...they knew nothing and had nothing....and now they have to create a government and train etc. You don't set them free and then leave them....but America wants to do that...ALL THE TIME!

troops kept around the world for the last 60 years was because of Russia and the cold war There was the constant concern of a nuclear surprise attack.

We need to bring the troops home.

stop all military development

show the Chinese and Russians and Muslims that we are peaceful loving folks and mean them no harm.

Troops aren't dying in Germany or Japan.

It is the WAR ZONE which people are worried about. They are not worried about the long time allies.
