Does a child have to be fully potty trained to attend Pre-K?
My daughter is 3 (4 in August) and will be attending Pre-K in Spetember. I plan to ask this question at her screening next Monday but I figured I might get some early answers here. She does use the potty sometimes but not all the time. Probably 50% of the time. We're working on it, but shes not fully trained yet so shes still in Pull-Ups most of the time. Her Pre-K classes will be 2 1/2 hours a day, five days a week. Does she need to be fully trained by September? If shes not, will they let us keep working on it with her while shes in Pre-K or will she be denied a spot?

It depends on the school, but most schools require that children age 3 and up be fully potty trained.
However, the teacher know that many of the 3 year olds are still new at the potty business, so they are extra careful about scheduling potty times, helping with pants and buttons, giving reminders, looking out for the 'potty dance' and are not too upset when accidents occur (as long as the accidents are not a daily occurence.)
Plus when the children see other children using the potty, they tend to get better at it. They don't want to be embarassed by accidents, so will really get with the potty program.

It depends on the facility. Some places do have policies against accepting children who aren't potty trained and others will take them. You should talk to the place that you are wanting her to attend. You do have several weeks before it starts though, I'd get rid of the pull-ups and go to just panties. Kids usually train faster if they aren't wearing diapers (which basically is what pull ups are) and actually feel the discomfort of wet undies. Letting her run round the house naked works good, too. There's no reason she couldn't be fully potty trained by September.

As a preschool teacher, I would say yes, but it depends on the child care center. You might not be able to send her to school in a pull up because of License rules. If you keep on working with her, and it will help that she will see all her friends in big girl under wears. Buy her some pretty princess under wears, and tell her that the princess will be sad it she potty on them, that might help. I would stop putting her in a pull ups because she's not feeling that she is wet, when she pees. Place her in big girl under wears, or thick training pants. When she wets her self make her change her self w/ as little help from up. She will start going in the toilet, because she won't like the feel of being wet.

It varies I guess, but I know here where I live they must be potty trained. going on 4 is a little old to not be potty trained, my son was potty trained at 2 weeks after he turned 2 and my daughter who turned 2 in may is now potty trained..i would say work on it before august there is no reason she can't comprehend and understand how to go potty. take the pullups off and put regular underwear on her.

They did in the school my daughter attends. When I signed her up I told them she was fully potty trained (which was a lie), but I kept working on it all summer and by the time she entered school she was fully trained.

It depends on the school. I was looking into schools and it didn't matter and then I just moved to a new area and every school in the area including the private ones all require them to be fully trained even at 2 which to me is crazy. Just check out where you are going.
