Need the kitten out of the house asap, but shelters are closed. What can I do?
We got a kitten and we can no longer keep it. Our son is extremely allergic to him, and the Dr told us we need it out of the house before my son can go back in the house. It's already very late at night and all the shelters are closed until Tuesday, what are our options?
Thanks.
It's almost 11pm here...all my family, friends and neighbors are asleep. I've washed all the bedding and completely cleaned my house, but the cat is very fluffy, so he sheds constantly. We live in an apartment with only 1 bathroom, so thats not an option to put the cat there for now. Thanks for everyones imput so far though
We just got the kitten a few days ago. My son was having really bad problems the past few days and we didn't realize the cause of it, but tonight it got really bad and we had to take him to the ER. The kitten is so sweet, I feel bad that we have to give him up, but it's the only choice we have right now.

give it to a friend or a neighbor. ask anyone if they want a cat for free, or you can sell it to them. make sure you clean all of your furniture before you bring your son back into the house. oh, and make sure that whoever you give it to, your son doesn't go over there because if he's allergic, then it would be a bad idea for him to be around there. so be wise on who you give it to.

if the problem is that bad then i think you should just put the kitten in the 1 bedroom that you have. if there are no friends, family or neighbors that can take the kitten in and your son is THAT allergic then that is pretty much your only option, and it isn't even that bad. +how long have you had the kitten? if your son needs the kitten out of the house "now" then how in the world did he live with it before-even for a day?

As has already been said, try to get a neighbor or friend to take it. If this is not possible, place it in a remote location of the house such as a small bathroom or garage and do not allow your son there. You should also at least change the bedding before your son comes into the home.

Find a friend or neighbor to take the kitten for a few days.
Whatever you do, don't just put it outside.
And, your doctor is an idiot if he just wants the kitten out of the house and doesn't insist you clean the house, furniture and bedding as well before your son comes home.

Give the kitten to a neighbor, friend, or family member for the night & explain your situation. Don't put the kitten outside alone.

It sounds like a tough situation - I'm not sure I know the answer, but perhaps you can sort of wake someone up? Someone you trust, a good friend of yours to take kitty for a few hours until morning comes?
How sad for that kitty.
