OKAY.. HELP! Cat white blood count 37,000!!!?

I posted another question regarding my 12 yr old being dehydrated over clavamox. Vet called me back said her blood work showed a white blood count of 37000. I am taking her to the ER vet but have to wait for my husband to get home since my three year old is deathly allergic to dogs...

until then, what does that mean?! Why so high? This was supposed to have started as a bacterial ear infection. She is so dehydrated that her clear inner eye lid doesn't all the way retract. I am giving liquids but I know I need to get he there asap. :0( What is going on???

A dehydrated cat will have their blood counts all over the chart. The high white blood cell count indicates a severe infection. The ER vet will give her fluids, and get her hydrated again. At that point they will probably repeat the white blood cell count, and it hopefully will drop.
