I need your advice on moving?

This is long... sorry. I have 4 animals (2 cats and 2 dogs). I currently live in a 3000 sq ft home. I have an opportunity to move across the country for a job. It unfortunately seems reasonable apartments are less than 1300 sq ft.

It's not that I wouldn't be able to take them or that I can't care for them, I'm just concerned about the cats' well being.

The long drive or plane ride across country would be traumatic for them, then there is the smaller apartment issue and also no chance to go outside (supervised in a yard, not just roaming).

Our last move was only 15 minutes away and it took them weeks to adapt, I can't imagine across country. I don't want them to be miserable, but I don't want to leave them with some random person either. I just want the best for them, unfortunately I'm not really sure what that is yet.

What would you do? Do you have any suggestions?

I'm not moving for certain, but it's a great opportunity.

Any person or pet will have to adapt to a new environment when moving, that's just how it is. Dogs and cats, cats in particular, have very keen senses and they can smell other people and pets in new homes. It seems, in my experience, that cats don't adapt and cope as well as dogs do since dogs are social animals and cats are more independent and don't like strange smells. My advice to you it to check out your options for a better job closer to where you live. If moving across country is the best option for your future then you might need to budget for a bigger place, like a condo so you can temporarily fence in a yard for your pet. If your cats are outdoor/indoor cats they make playpens/jungle gyms for cats that you could set up on your porch or in your yard at your new place. If you can't afford a condo and an apartment is your only option, make sure it has a balcony or patio. You can buy playpens and such for your apartment patio that allow you to leave your patio door open so, while you are home, your pets have the ability to go outside as they please. For your dogs, if your budget allows it and they are dog friendly, look into doggie day cares in the area you plan on moving to. These are great options for pets who either are alone for long periods of time or for pets who don't get outside as much as they need to exercise because of the limitations of their home.

As far as moving them and them being stress, try to transport them in a vehicle they are used to being in. You can also get sedatives from a pet store or your vet clinic to make the trip go faster and smoother. Moving pets across country is very stressful, not only for them but for you as a loving parent too, the important thing to remember is to stay calm because your pets can sense when something is wrong and they will react appropriately. I don't think leaving them with a stranger is the best idea, but if you feel they would just be too stressed to make the trip then that is something you might have to do, but I feel they would be fine. If they end up having to be flown across country, they get the correct amount of sedatives to keep them almost completely asleep for the trip, this helps reduce stress from flying.

Stress can causes serious health issues in pets and should be minimized if possible, but people move their pets across country all the time without problems. It's when you as the owner get stressed about it that you stress out your pet.

    Hope this helps!

Just be sincere. There is not any cause to get uptight or lift any voices. If they get that means inform them the dialog is over and you're going to speak approximately it once more whilst they are able to have a talk like an grownup in a deferential technique. I feel if you're wholly sincere along with your moms and dads they'll have got to admire it, despite the fact that they do not adore it. In my household there are 3 boys and I am the one one who went on a challenge, however it wasn't anything I was once continually definite of and needed to make my possess resolution. Missions don't seem to be continually proper for all people, despite the fact that they're exceptional. Religion is only a sensitive field. I married an agnostic and it afflicted my mom in the beginning, however she have got to take delivery of it since we each and every have got to make our possess choices. Regardless of my offerings I are not able to deny what I understand is correct, and you're going to have to uncover that out to your possess. Good good fortune.

First of all each city has pet friendly apartments.I would email the

Chamber of Commerce who can direct you to some apartments that

    allow pets.

Check with some rescue groups who can help you relocate by going

to Petfinder.com.I have yet to meet anyone who will not help you in

    giving information about their city.
