cats strange behavior?
im not really a cat person. we have two cats ones my roommates ones my girlfriends. at one point one of these cats did something i forget what now and i was angry enough to take a broom to it and chase it around the house for 15 minutes. (porbably defecating on my stuff its been awhile) i scared the poop out of it literally and it avoided me like crazy. now its been about 6 monthes or so since saids incident i completly ignored this cat and for the most part it avoids me(yes i know it was mean to chase an animal with a giant broom) but it the last month or two this cat has suddenly beccome super cuddly...why? i ignore it , and it runs when i move to fast near it but when im on my computer or on the phone it cannot resist the urge to cuddle... did i mentally retard this animal? or has it acording to my gf forgiven me? what gives with this cats behavior?

Sometimes in a room full of people, a cat will gravitate towards those that don't like cats and avoid 'cat lovers'. The reason for this is because the 'cat lovers' are trying to make eye contact with the cat, while the person that doesn't like cats isn't looking at them.
Direct eye contact, especially for prolonged periods is considered aggressive to cats, similar to "mad dogging" someone. A less aggressive way to look at your cat is to look just a little pass them, or if you make eye contact do a slow blink.
Perhaps the cat feels most comfortable around you because your body language comes off as the least aggressive. Also perhaps scent has something to do with it, since your gf probably has her 'scent' on you (don't go there!)
Anyway, just learn to enjoy it! Perhaps you have some 'cat whisperer' thing going on ;)

The cat has no mental issues if you just chased it. Maybe some emotional scarring. I would agree with your girlfriend and say that it has probably forgiven you, seeing as you ignored it and did not bother it for so long. The cat most likely realized that it was a one-time scare, and that you do not mean it harm.

Firstly, chasing a cat around for 15 minutes is a little insane. I understand being frustrated with a cat that uses your personal items as a toilet (my cat urinated on my bed three times when he was alive), but that is absolutely uncalled for. Cats tend to use items (such as clothing) that smell like you as toilets when they are upset. This is done out of love, as odd as it may seem. Were I your girlfriend, I would keep you FAR away from my cat.

Sounds like you've been forgiven and are being offered a second chance at a friendship! Be nice to the kitty!

I've heard somewhere that cats are attracted to people who give them the least attention. My 3 cats LOVE my dad but he's allergic to them.

If you haven't hurt it or bothered it for a while, then it did forgive you, and mostly just wants some attantion. My cat does that when its hungry, so maybe your cat just wants something from you. If you groom it daily, and give it whatever she/he wants, it should stop.

It just means its time to chase it with the broom again. Cats forget. Remind them!

It has forgiven you but, as long a your attention is elsewhere, you seem safe enough.
