How do I get knots out of my cat's hair?

He has two little knots back by his tail. He has long hair but never got them before. I'm thinking of just cutting them out? What do yas think?

    either cut them out or buy some pet hair detangling spray from the pet store.

    Thats happened to my cat before also. If they are big like my cats were they are supposed to painful so I suggest just cutting them off. We do the same thing

    Yes that's fine cut them out, just be carefull not to cut the cat

    These are called matts. If you try to get them out now, it will hurt him because matts tend to somehow connect to the skin. Yes, you should cut it out. My cat gets matts alot on his belly. If you cut them out it doesn't hurt the cat at all, just try not to cut his skin.

    Well you should probably just cut them out as an alternative to painfully yanking them strait with a brush.

    see if you can slide a comb under the matting, and then cut above the comb so as not to risk cutting his skin.
