Are the 7 deadly sins still valid?

Someone answered my other question by telling me the 7 deadly sins are of no importance because they were OT.

Do you feel that way and if you do - why?

If they were, there would be no business left in the USA

All owners would be killed because they work on weekends

    Edit:

A Catholic Pope decided what the deadly sins are not God or the old Testament, therefore they are not old testament sins. Since Jesus died so all our sins are forgiven, then the 7 deadly sins are not deadly, they are forgiven also, except maybe suicide, because you can't be forgiven for a sin til you actually sin, so if you kill yourself that's a deadly sin and unforgivable. Since all our sins are forgiven by the Sacrifice of Christ on the cross, there can be no deadly sin, if your a Christian.

All sins are deadly? Really? I don't see shoplifters being struck by a bolt of lightning as they try to make their escape. Unless, you mean that everyone sins, and everyone dies eventually. In which case, God is a cruel, sick person, and he makes people want to sin (it's human nature), and then kills people for sinning. Sort of like a kid who cuts off an ant's antennae to watch it squirm. Of course, God would be far more sociopathic than that, as he's dealing with intelligent life, and inflicting emotional and mental pain on top of physical pain

And God killed thousands of times more good people than Satan in the BIble

Man, when you really think about it, God's an asshole >_>

  • If a sin is defined as a morally unprincipled act, then yes. But "deadly" would mean you'll go to hell.

Since I believe heaven and hell are here and now, I choose not to sin so I can stay living here in heaven. I am not perfect and God knows it, so He often lets me slide.

    :)

Oh I suppose they are for some people. I think naturally they are human nature, but there are some who still cross the line.

they are a catholic concept that are not specifically addressed in scripture - either OT or NT.

they make their own rules many of which run completely counter to scripture
