Where do they get this Dec 21 2012 misinformation?

Why, do people believe such things? They are using a pagan calender (which actually ended already! It was on the news several months ago yet everyone is still talking about it as being official.) for a validation of a Christian prophesy?

Update:

Didn't the Christian GOD say only "He" knows the end? Not even Jesus knows?

Update 2:

Tristin, I guess you didn't read the whole notes. It was on the news that it already has ended! Besides, only the CREATER knows the last day and "HE"(acording to the bible) is not telling anyone the date! As for the one who mentioned main stream realigions, not all believe that. I know a lot of main streamers who don't believe it either. It seems to be in Y/A that this is rampant.

Update 3:

Mr.C, though I appriciate the bible, I am asking for personal comments, not bible quotes.

All I know is that the Mayan Calendar stops at Dec. 21st, 2012. I don't understand why christians believe it though. Their bible doesn't actually say that.. does it?

There are a lot of christian factions that believe that the end of the world will happen in their life time. Many of them were sure that it was going to end in the year 2000, they look at the signs - war, flood, famine, etc. - without realizing that these things have always been around, and have been convinced by their religious leaders that the world is ending. The Maya calendar for them is an "outside proof" that their claim is real. They know that it's pagan, and that's why they use it. The way a lot of them see it is as confirmation from an outside source that their bible is correct - even though, like you said, the bible does not actually give a date.

Personally I believe that every day the world ends for millions of people as it also begins for millions, societies change, the planet changes but it has been around for millions of years and will continue to go on.
