Is the "1st" G.Bush being honest with us here?

BOSTON (AP) - The elder President George Bush will not be attending Sen. Edward Kennedy's funeral.

A spokesman for Bush said Friday that he and his wife, Barbara, decided not to attend Kennedy's funeral after learning their son, former President George W. Bush, would attend.

Jim McGrath says the 85-year-old Bush feels his son's presence would "amply and well represent" the family Saturday.

This seems a little disrespectful toward Sen. Kennedy and his family.

It also seems like a pretty flimsy excuse -

but then again -

Old George is getting along in years - Maybe he's just not up to it.

What do you think?

It is my understanding that there's a lot of bad blood between Papa Bush and Duhhh-bya. I can't say I blame him for not being around his dingbat son after the way that man flushed the entire economy down the crapper. I think Papa Bush himself is probably not in the best health. The guy is 85 after all. Knowing that the damage that Duhhh-bya did probably didn't help his health any. This is just my guess.

Why don't you read some facts about the Kennedy family and in particular Ted Kennedy and you will learn what disrespectful is. No one should attend this man's funeral. It's an embarrasment to our country that any President of politcian would praise such a person. Actually look at how the Kennedy family got their money through organized crime. Look at the wall street scams and stealing people's money. Look at how Ted let that woman die. Look at all of the woman Ted has personally sexually assaulted. Look at the Kennedy family's ties to Germany's Socialist Party Leader Adolf Hitler. Look at Ted's personal ties to the Communist Party leaders of the USSR. I could go on and on though what would be important is for people to actually look at the actions of the Kennedy family and how they got to where they are. People would be embarrassed and realize these people should be in jail not office. Please do some research so you know what you are speaking of.

Both parents are ailing. Barbara Bush had heart surgery in Houston a few years ago. If you look at news reports, you will see that President GHW Bush has a hard time walking. He shuffled along, taking baby steps.

No one has to go to a funeral. I will not be there either.

I think he is a liar and a sleazy snake. You can not believe anything the old fart says. He is using it as an excuse not to have to go probably just because Sen. Kennedy was a democrat. I think it is very disrespectful to Sen. Kennedy and the entire Kennedy family for that matter. As the 41st President that is still living he should be there no matter what the circumstance or conflicting schedule.

  • George Bush Sr. is under no obligation to attend the funeral just because he was a President.

I know the Bush's aren't your favorite family, but even you admit he's getting old. If they were really trying to slight the Kennedy's they wouldn't have had George go either.

He is 85 and not in the best of health neither is his wife Barbra, the ailing Ted did not attend his own sister's funeral obviously due to poor health, he is not obligated and at 85 he needs no excuse not to go anywhere.

When you become the age of the eldre Bush and his wife, traveling can be a pretty difficult thing to do. I'm sure he has called the Kennedy family and given them his condolences. There's nothing disrespectful about it.

Who cares. GW has lots of cajones to show up at a snake pit like that, I suspect the only lib at daddy Bush's funeral will be Clinton.

Granted my grandmother (who is about his age) isn't in quite as good health (assuming) as Bush Sr, but we can't even take her to the beach because she has to pee every 30 minutes.. I'm sure the age does play a factor..
