My niece came to my house and fed my cats for three days. What should I compensate her, that's fair?
She didn't have to change cat boxes, or even play with them, much, etc. She just came over each day (she lives about ten minutes away from me and came over on her way home from work)
I don't want to be a cheapskate, but don't want to over-do - I am also taking her out to dinner. Suggestions?
LOL! She isn't a brat, she's a sweetheart - 23 yrs old, and was quite willing to do it. She doesn't have pets because her boyfriend is allergic... and one of his kids.

Just take her to a really nice dinner, that should be okay. Are you guys close, or did you have to ask her parents to get her to do it?
It all depends how willingly she did it. Also, if you stay in touch with her, always ask if she needs a favor. A good relationship like that will be worth more to her than $30.
Of course if she's a brat and you don't want to do anything for her, just give her a $20.

I feed some dogs down the street every time the owner goes out of town. We agreed on $5 a day but he usually leaves lots more than that.
I would do them for free but he is a lawyer & can afford to pay a bit more just to add to motivation to do the job like it should be done.
I did not have to drive to his house, he is 3 doors down the road, so I spent no gas.
I think that $30 is enough but showing appreciation is hard to put a price on. Maybe add a cake or pie, or bowl of something you like to make.

The pet sitters around here get $10-20 a trip usually. Since she didn't scoop boxes, I would go with the lesser and pay her $30 and the dinner.

I would give her $30.00 and the dinner. I think that's a fair amount. She may not even accept it. For me,the dinner would be enough.

I think $10.00 per visit plus dinner would be fair if all she did was feed/water.

20 and even that is generous...she just fed them? I would do that for free...
