Infected kitten paw, any advice?

So my husband and I found this little kitten wandering around outside, and decided to give her a place to stay. Our apartment doesn't allow pets, so we've been trying to take care of her the best we can without actually "keeping" her. She might be about 6 months, I'm not sure. She does stay inside for a lot of the day and goes out for a few hours, and the longer we've had her the more frequent we seem to be keeping her.

Anyway, I noticed about 3 days ago that her front left paw is probably infected. There was pus in the space between her pad and the smaller pads of her toes. My husband brought home some hydrogen peroxide, and we tried flushing it out with that. However, this is the third night we've attemping cleaning and flushing it, and we can't see a cut or anything. I just looks raw and sort of gouged, even though when I repeatedly check it througout the day it seems to still be leaking pus. Also there's dirt actually stuck on the wound and we can't get it off. We're afraid of hurting her by pulling at it...or opening a wound or something. It's not swollen, and she's not limping, but it definitely causes her pain when we hold her down to examine and clean the paw.

Any advice as to what it could be or what to do? Where is the pus coming from? We can't afford a vet right now, especially because we're expecting a baby any day.

Best thing would be to take it to the vet.

I actually found my cat this way..(ive had him for 11 years)

I found him outside my house wandering and crying. He was also a kitten at the time. We brought him in and saw his paws were both infected with blood and pus. He was very lethargic and we ended up taking him to the vet. Thats where we found out he had a high fever and was extremely sick. The vet said if we hadn't brought him in, the cat would have died within a couple of days.

If you want a cheaper solution or answer to your question you can try www.justanswer.com they have some vet assistants, nurses ect that can help answer your question. The least you have to pay is 9 dollars for an answer. I've used it loads of times for simple questions i wanted to ask about regarding my cat's health.

Do try to stay on top of this thing, you don't want the poor animal to suffer. Either take it to the vet or surrender over to an animal shelter.

Also there are some places that can help you pay for the expenses you just have to speak to a shelter about it or even call up a vet and see what advice they can give you.

One word hun VET! I know its a nasty word right now but seeing how you are going to have a baby you shouldn't have a cat around well the litter box is more like it and kitty loves milky baby face bad bad thing smothered baby by kitty is something that has and can occur the kitty is not trying to hurt the baby but it is a better idea to perhaps take her to the Vet tell them you do not have the money to pay right now and work out a payment arrangement or surrender her to your vet as a sick stray there is also your local shelter as well as your local ASPCA look into it if you want to help cause i think kitty needs cleaned very well as well as some antibiotic's.

At 12 weeks she does not choose the milk, she has all her tooth so she will have dry. it quite is a stable concept to have dry out for all time so she will have some while she looks like it, and supply canned nutrition at meal situations. in case you have self assurance she is underweight, you would be able to desire to divide a 5.5 oz..can into 3-4 nutrients an afternoon. She should be de-wormed. If she hasn't had standard nutrients in some days it is not uncommon to no longer have a bowel stream, no longer something in, no longer something out. She would desire to have one the following day. positioned her contained in the muddle container periodically contained in the path of the day. you probably would desire to have the paw checked, it could have been broken.
