Does all the gloating about Chicago not getting the Olympic bid remind you of high school?

Like when the losers that did not have the courage to out for the team pick that the kid that dropped a pass during a game.

or in some cases elementary school. The Obama haters with their thumbs in their ears chanting "na na nana na Obama did not get the Olympics in Chicago"

Its COMPLETELY childish, ESPECIALLY considering the fact that it would have been GREAT for the country. It just goes to show you that these "people" care more about party than country. If they're guy didn't come up with, they want it to fail. Not to mention the fact that the country that DID get it were the forerunners for it for a long time. Obama just tried a bold last second attempt to bring it here. It was a long shot to begging with. If it were a Republican that made that attempt, they'd be proud and THEY KNOW IT!

I'm glad Rio got it. Those who say it would be good for America and especially for Chicago just means that it would be good for those friends of the President and first lady in Chicago to make a bunch of money. America has had the summer and winter olympics here before. This is a first for South America and I really hope it turns out good for them. For myself, I don't believe that America needs any more corruption here than we already have. And yes, it is fact that the people on the board of the olympics tend to be corrupt from time to time.

You might be correct in terms of attitude. One thing seems obvious as skilled professional educated person is timing, time management and follow through skills are very off. Even when he produced his credit card bill his team has watered down its effect for nine months. Many good ideas and proposals seem to self destruct because of timing, his not putting himself on the line to getting it done now or letting management by consensus destroy the momentum. I think this is what has set so many critics against him. I think it could be personality but his Democratic house doesn't help him, his public caution in publicly not backing Clinton and his Generals is not good as confidence building, Steny Howard, Harry Reid, Biden, Barney Franks have they helped him and his administration or helped themselves ? This lack of cohesion is amazing and hurting his efforts, whether on his side or not. This gloating about Chicago is just the icing on the cake of some missteps on his part as viewed by critics.

In a time filled with economic and political turmoil the Olympics would have been a nice thing to have in the US, but honestly they were not so important as to spend millions flying Obama, Mrs Obama and Oprah to Denmark while ignoring actual issues that need attention.

Obama really needs to get off the campaign trail and start acting like the president elect.

And you are mistaken, it is the Obama supporters that are refusing to hear the truth and have their fingers in their ears.

Obama has been asking for it. He takes every opportunity he can to trash the half of the country that doesn't agree with him. He is supposed to be the president of all of us. But he makes fun and blames us for everything. Is that the way to show leadership? Isn't he supposed to be the one pulling us together? I am not pleased that the u.s. didn't win the olympics but there are a lot of things more important then that to deal with. It's actually time for our president to man up and act like our president. If he doesn't want to be the president for all of us then let us know we will find someone who is willing to look out for us. We have not always gotten along as a country but when things got tough we were in it together and put our differences aside. That's obama's job to lead us into recovery.

While it might remind some of high school, I guess you are right as it is teaching. What is it teaching? It is teaching Obama that he needs to be a bit more humble and that he is not God and that his star power wears very thin and that it doesn't influence the Olympic committee.

I'm delighted that the Olympics will be held in S. America for the first time.

I almost choked when I heard Oprah went. Do they really think that people on that committee would be influenced by her and Michelle's emotional dad speech. They are smarter than that.

Obama needs to stop gallivanting all over the world tying to befriend everyone and apologizing for things and just get to work.

I may be happy about this decision, but I feel badly it's not in the US, but I think Obama made one huge mistake and I am glad he is caught with his pants down. It's about time certain people see him for who he is.

You are absolutely correct. Obama went out like several other heads of state to promote bringing the International Olympics to the United States. All but one of those heads of state were going to be disappointed. He is to be commended for trying.

That said, and having been to Chicago recently, I can say I think Chicago would have been a bad place for the Olympics unless they do some serious work on their infrastructure. Traffic problems getting in and out of the city are a nightmare now. Bringing the Olympics there would be to the traffic situation like pouring water on a drowning man who has C.O.P.D.

Considering the above, it seems to me that Obama got some poor advice in thinking that Chicago would be a viable candidate.

there is a large and growing resentment in this country for obama and anything he does, any failure is welcome. he has done nothing positive so far, unemployment is rising, the world view of the u.s. is dropping like a rock, this health care thing is a complete disaster and has split the country and he's trying to use race as a divider. i'm a church going,

gun toting conservative and never had a racist bone in my body until recently thanks to obama and his liberal following. they want to bring race into everything, fine with me, i can play that game right along with them, they're entering into dangerous territory. with the olympic committee rejecting obama do you actually think iran will listen to him? obama has absolutely no credibility and he's gotta go.

Oh, not really. I think it's a good thing that it won't be here.

I doubt we'd ever break even. Rio will have to spend millions

to clean up their slums, build new buildings, and spend for

security. Obama needs to learn he can't everything he wants,

just because he is a president now.

I think Obama should ask for a recount and hire about 2000 lawyers to check for dimpled or hanging chads. Or maybe you have some other thoughts.

Actually, the song goes like this "na na nana hey hey Obama, good-bye" But he heard them singing that when he left the room.

half of the people in Chicago, according to the chicago tribune, did not want the olympics and chi town is a liberal safehaven, rio deserved it since south america has never hosted an olympics, there will always be haters. refer to the " i hate sarah palin " crowd. no matter what she does, people criticize her.
