Are jerseys from the Original Six teams the best ones?

From my days in Marketing we were told simpler is better. Two of the original six are Red White and Blue. We all know what that stands for. Two are only two colours red and white or blue and white can't be any simpler than that. The other two are simple but unique that is what is successful in marketing and is successful in hockey sales.

Brand loyalty remains in the identification.

I'm going to have to agree here. My personal favorite has always been the Blackhawks; especially the black uniform. Just a great mix of color along with the logo. It's not overdone at all, the same goes for the Red Wings and Bruins uniforms from then to now, have always been well done.

My favorite team is the Flyers, and though they have a rich tradition; one part I'll refuse to include is the what I call, "kindergarten orange" uniforms. Ugh. Could be worse though, some of these newer franchises uni's are flat out hideous.

Also, think the Blackhawks are a real quality nice young team. Even if the youngster Kane doesn't like taxi drivers.

Detroit Red Wings - best logo. When any non-hockey fans see it, they KNOW who the team is and they think of hockey. The winged wheel is awesome! Gordie Howe. It's all about him.

Chicago Blackhawks - The best overall jersey. The indian, the hatchets on the side,,,too cool. Great color scheme too!

Toronto Maple Leafs - Makes you think of Canada when you see the leaf. That's too cool.

Montreal Canadiens - The MOST storied franchise in the league. Better than the Yankees? Oh hell yea! The "C" sorta looks like a toilet seat, but I don't care. I look at that and think of all of the greats that played there. I LOVE it!

Boston Bruins - The original black & yellow team. Not like those fakers in Pittsburgh, LOL. Bobby Orr dude, Bobby Orr.

New York Rangers - I love the colors.

I agree with a lot of your answers so far. Simplicity. Familiarity. I own at least nine Red Wings jerseys or jersey styled shirts. I am VERY fond of the Blackhawks jersey, too.

I would have to agree. Except I think the Canadiens jersey slightly edges Chicago's. But there is definitley something about all the jersey's of the original six that is cool.... they all do look amazing.

Except for the NY Rangers. Sorry to Rangers fans.. .it's nto a bad jersey I feel... but compared to the other five I think the Rangers have the worst one.

SI did an online survey 3-4 years ago involving ALL North American sports teams jerseys/uniforms....and the Blackhawks came out on top (Yankees were second).

Sadly, it ranks 4th in NHL sales behind Toronto, Montreal, and the Rangers...just ahead of Detroit, Calgary, and Pittsburgh.

People...........we need to make the Blackhawks jersey #1.

I think the Blackhawks is the best as well, but I like the Bruins jerseys as well.

thats 100% correct. if you notice, the best NHL jerseys are the ones that havent gone through a lot of changes in their long history. reg wings, rangers, blackhawks, canadiens, all have classy and great looking jerseys.

teams like tampa, buffalo, atlanta, look like they have star trek unifroms.

it goes to show that one of the driving forces behind merchandizing is "brand familiarity" meaning people prefer what they are familiar with.. and with most of the logos going relitivly unchanges sense the 1920s or before... then of course they sell better... people that arent even hockey fans can recagnize the maple leafs red wings and black hawks... (before you winged wheel fans jump on my im well aware that they werent the red wings until untill the 30s but that still a good amount of time longer then most the other logos/swetters/merch have been around)

My favourite team is the Canadiens but my favourite sweater is a red Blackhawks.
