Will Republicans support the demise of US currency on the world market?
About the "secret" meetings with several members of the G20, the Brics, Japan, over the US dollar.
Republicans were gleeful when the US lost the Olympics, they were angry that the President won a prize and they want to keep the system of health care that makes global companies richer.
Now several Arab countries dumping the dollar price of oil and going to a basket of currency pricing, including Gold, is gaining traction in the markets. sends a send a signal that a changing economic world has grown and is growing tired, very tired, of the economic irresponsibility of the US.
No link -- here's an excerpt --October 06, 2009 - "The Independent" -- -- "In the most profound financial change in recent Middle East history, Gulf Arabs are planning – along with China, Russia, Japan and France – to end dollar dealings for oil, moving instead to a basket of currencies including the Japanese yen and Chinese yuan, the euro, gold and a new, unified currency planned for nations in the Gulf Co-operation Council, including Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Qatar."
Does this planned demise of the dollar serve the Republican Anti-American agenda?

Republicans will support even the demise of their own party if it fits in with their ideology.

I will make this point. The US currency plummeting will hurt some areas heavily but however such a thing may not be all that bad in the long run. Heres the thing to think on. If the US currency lost say 20-30% of its current value that would then put the US in running financially to retool and compete as an export country. Many jobs could alot easier come back to the US as jobs from US companies employing overseas gets hit hard forcing jobs back. With local US made products prices don't need to go up at least on normal products and the US being the major consumer country for many companies they simply can't raise prices.
The downside is imports would get far more expensive hense why the US would have to retool as a domestic run country vs an import country. The normal US household would end up needing to make some cutbacks lowering what many consider the normal standard of living. Maybe cable TV is back to 99 channels, high speed internet is now 2MB, basically some semi luxuries getting downgrades partially.
Just the arguement on how the US dollar dropping may not be such a bad thing but for it to get the reverse "good" effect it would need to drop significantly along with the US Government pushing a bit more for US jobs to come back.

It is our growing economy that is doing it. And it is not the Republicans we have to thank for it, It is the democrats. And again if you were paying attention most people in Chicago didn't want the olympics there. We have a struggling economy and now isn't the time to run up a hugh price tag for the olympics. We have hosted the olympics before. Let someone else have a turn. I guess Obama doesn't have that aww struck magic that he seems to think he has with everyone. Now health care, We don't want the same health care system that other countries have shown does not work well. People in Europe complain about the long waits and low standard of care. Looks like Obama doesn't have the magic here either. Oh yeah and last on the list. Obama hasn't done anything yet to deserve the Nobel peace prize. We are still involved in two wars with no end in sight so now I asked what has Obama done to deserve this? Most people who win it spend a lifetime involved in peace making to win it.

No its inevitable with the current debt that's being added every day to the all ready huge national debt how can one not expect for our USD to become worthless as time goes on. The national debt is increasing at the average of $3.92 billion a day, all this debt is making the dollar less valuable which is known as inflation.Once Hyperinflation occurs it will be too late to do anything about it, since it destroys the whole economy. A new currency would have to be introduced at that point.

Another completely ignorant liberal comment. You people are ridiculous. We weren't "angry" about Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize, we couldn't care any less about it, because in the past several years, the award as become political and a complete joke.
It is sad that you can't see how this will effect the US when oil is no longer traded in USD. You are crazy to be excited by something like this, and I will be sad for you when you finally come to realize what your messiah president has done to destroy this country.
As far as people being glad that the US did not get the olympics, I suggest that you double check your facts. There are plenty of Chicagoans who are liberal and were vehemetly opposed to the olympics being in Chicago. Do you know how much of a deficit the Illinois Government is running under? I happen to live in Illinois, and our liberal governor chose to threaten to cut the funding for all Illinois foster children, while signing a 34 billion dollar transportation bill a couple days later, so he could keep his fat cat union bosses in work digging holes and refilling holes on our highways.
You clearly know nothing about what you write.
By the way, liberals, keep comparing us to the Taliban all you want. It is hilarious and ironic, considering you all are the ones fighting so hard for the rights of terrorists.

We were gleeful that Chicago lost the Olympics because most of Chicago didn't want them there and it was fiscally irresponsible to seek to hold them there.
We were angry that Obama won the Peace prize because he has done NOTHING to deserve such an honor. The awards committee even admitted that it was awarded to him in HOPE that he continue on his path. NOT because he has done anything worthy of the award.
OPEC has been talking for years about dumping the dollar in favor of the EU or other unit. They stopped their talk while Bush was in Office, and now that Obama has shown what an appeaser he is, they have resumed.... just another step in the decline of America. I think it supports more Liberals angendas than Republicans.

I know many and Not One of them were "gleeful when the US lost the Olympics"

Big government, and policing the world are the main causes of our recession. And it will get much worse.
What will happen to us when countries don't want our money anymore? Oh that's right we have oil withdraws.
- tacotorchLv 41 decade ago
Who do you think planned it, the Republicans, remember Bush destroyed the economy and borrowed all those trillions, now countries want loose from the dollar.
- BertLv 71 decade ago
Actually, if you paid attention, you'd know Republicans have been talking about...and not supporting...the fact that the American dollar is going to be losing a lot of value. And yes, Obama has a lot to do with that.

Your'e kidding right? Far more republicans have signed on to the audit the fed bill than democrats. The federal reserve is what is causing our dollar to crash. Obama supports the fed. The federal reserve should have never been created.
