Are flower petals inexpensive?

Hi there, I am getting married next September and am kicking around decor ideas. I am not a huge fan of flowers, so I would rather not waste a lot of money on flower centerpieces. I would rather use lanterns and votives and scatter flower petals. Does anyone have any idea if buying flower petals from a florist is expensive? Or at least is it an inexpensive option? Thanks a lot!

Update:

EDIT: Thanks so much girls...also, it is a big deal because I am not going to waste thousands of dollars on flowers that I don't want.

They can be expensive if you actually buy the already pulled off petals. Its much more economical to buy the flower in tact and pull the petals off yourself. It doesn't take long at all. Roses can be bought at about $1 each and I bet you'd only need 1-2 flowers to have enough petals per table.

A friend of mine had the same concern at her wedding, she had candles & mirrors as her center pieces & want to scatter flower peddles but didn't want the extra cost. So her wedding planner had a great idea. After the ceremony they got the flower from the church & the bridesmaids bouquets & used all the peddles from those flowers for the reception. While the guests were taking picture & socializing the planner rushed everything to the reception, the guest never saw a thing. It was such an easy fix.

I hope this helps, good luck & congrats on finding that special someone!!!

Using fabric petals is an inexpensive option. I know a website where you can get 60 petals at $0.99 (the exact same quality as I find in local store where they sell $12 for 300 petals).

At my wedding, my daughter was the flower girl. Purchasing petals was expensive and fabric petals seemed cheap. I pulled some petals of a flowering tree in my yard the night before and they were perfect.

Go to your local grocery store and ask the florist there how much it would be for their flower petals. I know that day in and day out, I clean roses and throw all the petals I pull off away, but if I were asked to, I could save them and sell them for $2.99 for a corsage box full of petals.

I have to go with jagpsl- go with silks. Efavormart has rose petals in practically every color imaginable, plus fall colored "leaves" and butterfly and heart shaped petals. They are $5.99 for 500, and even at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels they are 9.99 for 200, plus efavormart has ALOT better selection of colors to choose from. If you've never ordered from them hey have a flat $4.95 shipping rate no matter what you order (look around the site and see if there's anything else you'd want to order to take full advantage of the shipping rate), and they have KILLER prices on practically EVERYTHING on their site, from satin table runners to disposable cameras (as low as $2.50 each!). They do offer quantity discounts on most of their items, so the more you order, the cheaper they are.

I know I sound like I work for the site or something, but I don't. I work at one of the Walmart's in Findlay, Ohio...lol. I just ordered a bunch of stuff from them about 3 weeks ago though. Their shipping time was awesome (had it in under a week), it was well packaged (i ordered some breakable stuff like toasting glasses, guest book, etc), and like I said before, their prices are just amazing!

if you have a Hobby Lobby in your area, they sell flower petals for $10 for i think somewhere around 50-100 of them. they're fake of course, so if you want real flower petals, you would have to ask a florist.

Go to a wedding supply store, craft store, or look online for fabric petals. They come in almost every color and are $6 a box of 100. I went to Michael's and saw them for $6 in several colors.

You could always buy a few bouquets of your color roses at costco or local superstore and pull the petals out yourself if you want real petals. I bought these roses for my bouquet I made myself and they matched my wedding colors perfectly. I also made my husband's boutonniere out of it as well.

you can go the Fake Flower Petal path and get around 500 for $5.99.

here is a good site for them:

    http://www.efavormart.com/silk-petals.aspx?referra...

If you'd perfer to go w/ real flower petals you can get 6000 of them for $109.99.

here is a good site i've had experience with:

    http://www.rosesource.com/URLrewrite.asp?404;http:...

If you are wanting to go the cheap route go w/ the fake petals.. they look very real.

but if you want that elegant, real look.. go w/ the real ones. They are still not that expensive.
