My friend who was invited for Thanksgiving Dinner said rude things, hurt my feeling and now wants leftovers!?
My friend invited herself to our house for Thanksgiving, then asked if she could bring a guest. (ok, that's fine) She called that afternoon and asked if the food was done, I said we were running late, but we had snacks to begin with, and they could come over to visit until time to eat. She said no, that she would rather go to the sales at Kmart or maybe she would just drive home because the food was not ready. (45 minute drive). She called an hour later and said her husband's family (where she refused to go ) had fed her baby the wrong foods and made him sick and cranky, so she was going home. She also said her husband had not eaten at his mother's house and would have to stop somewhere for food on the way home. (She repeated this three times). I told her I respected her decision to put her baby first and I supported her decision to take her baby home because he was sick. So, at this point she said she would be back on sunday to eat leftovers. I said there may not be leftovers, as our guests were still arriving. Here is my dilemma, This woman has been a close friend for years. I purposely gave away most of the leftovers to the guests that came for the meal. I do not wish to see my friend tomorrow because I am hurt. She already texted me saying she would see me tomorrow (because her husband forgot some of the baby's things at his mother's house). I know the only reason she wants to see me is to expect a free meal. Any ideas how to handle this diplomatically?

Tell her that you have no leftovers and that you plan to be gone for the day.

the persons amassed around my table would be: You, Kate, Emily, Tess, Edgar Allen Poe, Abraham Lincoln, Holden Caulfield, Will Smith, MLK jr, Rodney Dangerfield, Neon, and Ryan. ? i think of they'd've all gotten alongside with my relatives quite lots, because of fact to boot the eccentricness of Poe, all of the persons I chosen are quite honest induviduals. Ahaha. 2. What would you have served for dinner? (this question became inspired by a great macaroon I only munched on that Nora from “A Doll’s homestead” would easily adore, and that i'd have made particular became provided as a dessert if she would have joined us for Thanksgiving.) all of the fundamentals, of direction. Mashed Potatoes with gravy, turkey, mac and cheese, dressing with cranberry sauce ? 3. the place would the dinner have been held? In my ginat mansion. easily, i like the belief of having an exterior dinner. it would've been in a captivating placing for the period of evening with lights all above so shall we see. 4. What would you have executed after the meal? Talked to all and sundry of my heroes approximately life. 5. in case you had given a prayer of thanksgiving and expressed your gratitude to your visitors, what would you have mentioned to each guy or woman amassed around the table? Goodness. i'd have expressed to all and sundry of them how happy i'm to have met them and how useful all and sundry has been to ME of their very own way. thank you for showing me this. incredible question, Sky (do you concepts me calling you that?). =]

you snooze you lose. no food for you! lol.. just kidding.
i mean, honestly. she sounds really stressed out and rude? and you sound caring and considerate. but its not right for her to walk all over you like that. nice people dont deserve to be treaded like doormats, and thats whats happening here. tell her how youre feeling. confront her about it. and call her out on her attitude. if she has been a close friend for years, she should apologize for hurting you. because it wasnt right, what she did. and if she gets mad at your feelings, then she is not a true friend. shes using you. and she doesnt deserve any food anyways.
stick up for yourself!
hope this helps=]

If I were you I would tell her you feel as though she was rude to you and you don't appreciate it. Also explain that you are not trying to make her feel bad (as she did to you) but she should not expect you to engineer all your plans to revolve around her. She sounds pretty selfish. Don't let her walk all over you.
