EMLA Cream on a lip piercing?
I've heard that Emla cream is the best numbing cream to use prior to piercings and tattoos. I want to get a double lip piercing at one side and though since iwantd both done at once it might be a tad nippy so i was going oget numbing cream just so i know i'll be fine with the pain ( i have a few piercings already, but only in my ears, 2 x 8mm and 2 x 1.2 above them)
So anyway! Do you think it will be okay to use this cream for my lip piercing, as obviously it's just for external use, will it numb it all okay? and should i tell my piercer when i book that i'm planning on being a huge girl and numbing it :P
Any advice and i'd be really really grateful guys (: (:

It wouldn't really do anything for your lip piercing. It is useful for (small, quick) tattoos because the needle of the tattoo goes less than 1/16" into your skin. A piercing obviously goes all the way through your lip. The best that EMLA cream can do is to numb the very outside of your lip piercing, which would not do anything for the pain of the actual piercing because the needle goes through your entire lip, not just the 1/16" of skin on the very outside. Plus, you can't apply the EMLA cream inside your lip since it is for external use, so no, it doesn't seem like it would do anything! Most piercers do not numb you and usually do not have any kind of numbing product on hand in their studios, FYI.
I have my lip pierced twice (on opposite sides) and I will tell you straight-up that the actual piercing is not the worst part. Your lip swells something awful for the first week so be sure to take lots of advil to bring the swelling down and eat soft foods (and rinse with NON ALCOHOLIC mouthwash after meals!!)

I've been in the laser industry for the last 15 years and we used Emla for about 5 years before just about 2 years ago we switched over to Dr.Numb. Both cream works like magic but as a business owner, I prefer carrying Dr.Numb as much beneficial pricing model they provide for us and many clients down here in California have been raving about this. Numbing cream works and it helps clients as well as doctors/dermatologists treating the patients.

If its a real shop they won't pierce you with anything on your lip. It doesn't matter what it is. It doesn't hurt to get them done at the same time. It is a lot easier than spacing them out if you can handle them properly

Well. Most shops have it in stock and will use it. But it makes the flesh swell and difficult to tattoo or pierce right, most artists I've spoken to don't recommend it.
Besides, the pain is part of it. :]
