  • Employment law, probationary period?

I previously worked for a large bargain retail company.

I started working for them at the beginning of June as a sales assistant. When I signed a standard contract with a three month probationary period.

In September I was offered a job as a supervisor in another branch, based on my previous experience, I happily accepted. I signed no contract for this role.

Then in November I was dismissed for being 'unsuitable'. Where I was immediately dismissed as I was 'still within probationary period'. I know my dismissal was unfair as I did nothing wrong and it was basically a great excuse to solve having too many staff.

So basically, where do I stand regarding probationary period and having no contract.

I am currently appealing my dismissal but wanted to know if anyone knew much about the probationary period.

    Thanks in advance Xx

  • EMLA Cream on a lip piercing?

I've heard that Emla cream is the best numbing cream to use prior to piercings and tattoos. I want to get a double lip piercing at one side and though since iwantd both done at once it might be a tad nippy so i was going oget numbing cream just so i know i'll be fine with the pain ( i have a few piercings already, but only in my ears, 2 x 8mm and 2 x 1.2 above them)

So anyway! Do you think it will be okay to use this cream for my lip piercing, as obviously it's just for external use, will it numb it all okay? and should i tell my piercer when i book that i'm planning on being a huge girl and numbing it :P

Any advice and i'd be really really grateful guys (: (:

  • Acer Aspire 5520 Series fan?

I got an acer laptop in June 2007, it was okay wasn't great. I bought it purely because it was pretty cheap considering the spec and i didn't know much about laptops or computers.

After a while it started cutting off while i was watching movies etc because it was overheating, i needed my laptop for work and college so i could never get it sent away and just had to deal with the fact it would cut off every couple of hours.

Then 2 months ago it started cutting off after being on for 20 - 30 minutes, so i couldn't get anything done, my flatmate told me it was most likely that the fan would need cleaned and she told me to hoover the back of it (Yes, i trusted that!) To me that seemed a pretty logical solution and it worked, until a few hours later when it cut off again. I then realised my fan had completely stopped working and my laptop now only stays on for about 5 minutes at a time then overheats and cuts out.

I don't have the money to get it fixed professionally so i was going to have a go at replacing the fan myself, as i read up online it's not too hard to do.

What kind of fan do i look to buy and how do i go about this?

Any help I would be sooo grateful!!!

  • Hair Extensions? I'm clueless! :(?

I used to have extensions a few years back and i'm planning on getting some pretty soon. But i'm pretty clueless to be honest.

I saw some which are pretty cheap but they're not real hair.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Black-Hair-Extension-Weft-Ma...

I'm planning on buying wefts and sewing the clips myself.

Would I be better buying human hair(i'm not too keen on the idea) rather than some plasticy combo?

Also length wise what should i be looking for, right now my hairs just couple of inches above my shoulder. I'd like it a fair bit longer but not so longer it'll look immensely fake.

    I'd appreciate any help :)

    Thanks guys

  • Rockness Festival Bar Staff?

I've got an interview for bar staff at Rockness festival. Can anyone give me some questions they might ask or things they might ask in the interview? I've never worked in a bar before but they said they don't need experience and i've done some similar jobs.

So if anyone has done something similar to this in the past anything at all about the interview or the job role in general i'd really appreciate it.

Any help would be fab THANKS! xx

  • SAAS Bursary and loan help?

I'm trying to apply for saas for uni next year but they say i have to put in my parents income, i know roughly what they earn but i don't think I should have to put it in because I live on my own and I don't talk to them anymore due to a few family problems.

After reading pages and pages of blurb on the saas website, i have to get a letter from a social worker, police officer or a solicitor. I don't know any of them, and I don't know how I could prove to them I don't have contact with any of them.

Any help would be really really great.

    Thanks xxxx :)

  • Graphic Design at Uni?

i wasn't planning on going to uni until next year once i'd got my hnc in graphic design. But i found out that the entry requirements are 200 ucas points. Which if i pass my course this year il get 240.

Is it worth my while applying?

It might be good to mention that my fifth and six year exam results wern't too great, hence why i went to college to do an nc.

Are they less likely to consider me since it took me a longer amount of time to get my ucas points?

Any help would be really great.

    Thanks xxx
