Pushing the stimulus through was a huge mistake. Obama remarked on Jan. 24 that “if we do not act boldly and swiftly, a bad situation could become dramatically worse.” I've posted a link to a report from his economic advisers. If you'll scroll down to the chart on page 5 you'll see that with the stimulus it was claimed that unemployment would peak at 8%. Keep in mind that at $787 billion this is the most expensive piece of legislation ever passed. Unemployment has been in double digits for months and jobs are still being lost at an alarming rate. I disapprove of the performance of the stimulus. Either the administration lied or they didn't know what they were doing.

“The Obama administration pledged Thursday to provide unlimited financial assistance to mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, an eleventh-hour move that allows the government to exceed the current $400 billion cap on emergency aid without seeking permission from a bailout-weary Congress. The Christmas Eve announcement by the Treasury Department means that it can continue to run the companies, which were seized last year, as arms of the government for the rest of President Obama's current term. … Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac disclosed that they had received approval from their federal regulator to pay $42 million in Wall Street-style compensation packages to 12 top executives for 2009. The compensation packages [include] up to $6 million each to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's chief executives.”

I assume you have some knowledge of the real-estate bubble that collapsed and the reasons...also research the reinvestment act..

First, taxpayers have already sunk $111 billion into the Fannie-Freddie bailout in just the last few months.

Second, it was precisely such government guarantees that caused the housing bubble and economic collapse.

It is unbelievable that he would give bonuses to the very people involved in the economic collapse of 2008. He never worked in the private sector, but the firms gave money to his campaign. We are stuck with this change. He made another bad decision with our tax dollars.

edit: even his own party is growing tired of his policies..

President Obama will have to argue his own case to House Democrats as he seeks support for a planned surge of 30,000 troops into Afghanistan, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday, adding that she is finished asking her colleagues to back wars that they do not support.

Source(s): just getting started friend...maybe this is why his job approval rating is now at 47% and his personal approval rating at 50%

I cannot see one thing the current thing has done for the US citizenry. It all appears to have been for political power and payoffs and nothing more.

There is nothing that illustrates this better than the health care bill which we are told is an emergency to pass..... YET..... when it is passed we pay for it immediately, BUT NO ONE GETS ANY COVERAGE FOR 4 YEARS.

Kinda puts the lie to their urgency propaganda don't you think?

Insert tumble weed rolling by. I got into an argument with my cousin who is a staunch 40 something year old Republican. And her argument is a lot of what I see on here. He should have let all the banks fail. He is going to raise my taxes. I don't want my kid growing up and watching me die in front of a death panel. His foreign policy makes us look like ******* (insert another word for cat). I'm sure this is enlightening for you.

Well just to name 2 off the top of my head he:

    1. Promised to increase transparency of the government and to not have lobbyists in the congress. LIE, everyone in the cabinet is a lobbyist or wall street financier.

    2. He promised to draw the troops back from Irag IMMEDIATELY. Those were his exact words...ALSO A LIE. He had almost doubled the number of troops in the middle east.

    He is worse than Bush.

He took over two automakers, he shoved a pork packed economic destruction bill down our throats after promising to eliminate pork, he signed (long after the end of the fiscal year) spending bills that are packed with billions of dollars worth of unconstitutional pork (if it's legal, let each item be debated and voted on separately), he increased America's debt by more than ALL previous presidents COMBINED. he took over finance companies and replaced the CEOs of major corporations, no transparency or chance to read any bills before they are voted on or signed (including reading by the idiots who vote for them and sign them). Now tell us where in the Constitution of the United States he got the authority to do any of that.
