Why do a lot of people blame GOD for every disaster etc?

When you cut your finger because you are using it wrong, or move to a place you know has horrible disasters... WHY BLAME GOD FOR YOUR CHOICES. He did not give you the knife or tell you to move or even give anyone diseases! Take responsibility for your actions!

(Think question. No right or wrong answers)

Update:

IF what the BIBLE says is true. GOD gave us freedom to choose. He set up this world to work a certain way, and left MAN in charge to run it and take care of everthing upon it. To say that GOD is responsible for starving children while MAN is suppose to help then I consider that a bit arrogent (sorry if I misspell, the edit mode has no spell check)

Update 2:

I thank for the opertunity, and for what was created. SATAN didn't appear until the EARLY church needed funds so they could have someone to blame things on and a reason for the atrocities their leaders caused. Again, another scapegoat.

Update 3:

As for those living over 1000 years ago and natural disasters. They observed things, they could change things, but it was still their CHOICE to remain where they were. Again, blaming someone else for OUR CHOICES. We were given the mind to think and reason with, we were give a way to change things and left with our choices. PLANS are the ideas of MAN. GOD let us loose on the world with everything we needed to survive and thrive. If we should blame anyone for mistakes it is ourselves.

Update 4:

Thank you hailu Z! I think you understand where I am coming from. I see all the answers and many have some idea, but I think you hit it at what I was trying to get at and put it most elequently!

    god is not to blame

for example, if i had a daughter, she was a toddler and i help her walk but she wines and wants to walk on her own two feet and one day she might fall over but it doesn't mean i let or wanted her to fall. i will pick her up and dust the dirt off her dress and assure her everything is alright. it the fact that she know i am with her all the time and i am right her here for her when she needs helps.

everyone blames god for everything but like the young girl in the story, they want things their way and opt god out of their life

it strange how everyone want to live their own life, and want to be in control

they opt god out of their lives and he humbly accepted their rejection

but when trouble around the corner they are ready to blame god for everything :(

God is supposed to be omnipotent, so he could choose to prevent anything that ever happens. If he created everything, then he is the creator of the germs that make people sick. God created frail human bodies that can get cut by knives. People did not invent earthquakes and tsunamis either. Did you know it's impossible to find a home on earth where natural disasters of some kind never occur? If free will is supposed to be the cause of suffering, then God is responsible for creating free will. If heaven is a perfect place with no free will (therefore no sin in heaven) then God could have skipped straight to the happy ending.

The 2004 tsunami was totally unexpected by the local inhabitants...in fact, most didn't know the meaning of the word even, so how could they be responsible for living in a place that has tsunamis in...oh, like in a 1000 years?

lack of intellectual capacity to think things through. This is why religions are here in the first place--to explain things that there was no explanation for. In todays world where plate tetonics are reasonably well understood--one has to assume that who ever says goddidit is simply not thinking through why the earthquake occurred and takes the easiest "goddidit" path. Intellectual dishonest at the core.

Very simple. If your "god" is omnipotent, as you claim, they they are responsible for EVERYTHING that happens everywhere in the universe all the time. They are responsible for whether or not I take a sh*t in the morning, whether or not there's a big earthquake somewhere, who gets raped, murdered to starves to death, which stars explode, which stars are born, EVERYTHING. If they are not responsible, then they are not omnipotent and thus they are not "god".

So you have just proved that your "god" does NOT exist. Congratulations! Welcome to the real world!

Tectonics are only a theory and, under the equally valid "intelligent shaking", God is responsible for killing thousands in Haiti.

It's even more ridiculous when they credit God for every 'miracle'. Doctors and scientists are thrown aside because, apparently, they are just pawns in God's plan.

For the same reason you thank god when something good happens to you. Don't thank god, he doesn't do a darn thing for you in a good or a bad way.

    1. Same people that don't believe in God, blame God for all problems (humorous)

    2. People lack accountability because we are selfish in nature and do not take responsibility.

    3. Choice is God's way of saying, I love you, now prove you love me.
