Would you read a book where the bad guys won?

The good guys always win but would it be so bad if the bad guys won?

Would you be mad if thats how a story played out?

Thank you very very much!

I would, actually. Or I would like to read a book where the bad guys win, but turn out to be something completely unexpected and not fully bad. But of course, not fully good either. (Not sure this makes sense haha)

One, that scenario happened (and happens) so many times in history, and I enjoy reading history books.

Two, if the bad guys won in a fantasy world, say, like, just a battle, then I would be completely fine with that. But if the bad guys won everything and the good guys were forced into oppression, then no.

Also, if a side is termed "the bad side," chances are they will not offer the good guys a chance at integrating themselves into their evil world; most likely, they will (a) chop of all their heads, or (b) enslave them and torture anyone who does not conform to their evil agenda.

So in the real world, if the bad guys would win, I would not be happy, in fact, I would be devastated. If the bad guys won in a fantasy world, then I would probably not care very much, but still, I always root for the good guys.

In general, the answer to your question is no.

I wouldn't mind but I would like to see the bad guys story. Instead of some evil people out there we would get to see what they were doing and get their story. Because I'm sick of always reading about good guys and how they win. But we never see the bad guys and what they went through.

I would love a book like that.

It would be great to read something out of the ordinary, and I think something like this would be great for a Sci-Fi.

Maybe end in a dramatic cliffhanger.

Blake's 7 (A TV show) ended with a cliffhanger where the bad guys wiped out the entire cast.

It would depend on whether it was unremittingly bleak, or whether, despite a series of inspiring incidents, our main character died.

Think about "A Tale of Two Cities," when Sydney Carton sacrifices himself in place of Charles Darnay. The mob (bad guys) wins, but the human spirit triumphs.

"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known." -- Sydney Carton (Charles Dickens's "A Tale of Two Cities")

Source(s): I've read "Tale" about four times. "All Quiet on the Western Front" is another good example.

Yes. I'm sick of the good guy always winning. Or the bad guy technically winning because he turned good.

I prefer bittersweet endings where it's not all happily-ever-after but it's not TOO depressing either...like in the movie Titanic where the two lovers die but they end up meeting again in heaven. That made me cry. Tears are good when it comes to books and movies.

Ofc I would read it if the bad guys won. :)

It's boring when good always overcomes evil, 'cause it just doesn't happen in real life :D

i think it would be really intresting if something like that happened in a book ...

as long as its not based on some real life story , its all good ! lol
