how much weight will my cats gain after they are spayed and neutered?
My female cat Bella is a seal point siamese weighs 6pounds and 10ounces and turns 11 months this month she is quite small, and very active, more then her sister and mom, i have plenty of toys for her, catnip spray, and don't really feed her treats, the vet said shes a little under weight but she wasn't too concerned because of her breed, Apollo is my brothers cat which will be mine after my brother moves, Apollo is a blue point siamese and came from the same litter as Bella, he weighs 9pounds and 10ounces hes very needy according to my brother but i took to the vet today for his first shots and they said hes a little over weight, Bella is scheduled to get spayed on Friday and Apollo is scheduled to get neutered on Monday but im worried about the weight they will gain after their surgeries, and they really don't eat that much, they eat about the same as their mom and sister, by the way i have no control over their mom and sister because those are my parents cats, i am gonna monitor their food in take after they are fixed, but im worried about obesity

Cute kitties!
Spayed and neutered cats are no more likely to gain weight than intact cats, as long as you monitor their food intake and make sure it is appropriate. You will have to reduce their food by about 25% after the surgery to compensate for their drop in metabolism - it's only the people who don't realize that fixed pets need less food that have a big problem with weight gain after surgery.
But if you are dilligent there is no reason why they should not stay fit and trim.

Spaying and neutering usually coincides in the cat's life when they have left the frenetic activity level of their kittenhood and I don't feel the procedure really has much to do with the surgery. Some cats, like some people, tend to be on the fat or slim side as much from genetics as any other factor. My cats are all fixed and none is overweight. What you feed your cat is the most important factor. A lot of people buy cat food from the grocery store and it is universally 2/3 corn and unwholesome meat protein (and not much of it). So whether the cat tends to be fat or slim it will be affected by improper diet.

There is no way to know for sure. I have all my pets spayed and neutered. None of my cats have ever gained any extra weight. They are still young though so they may fill out as they get a little older, but that doesn't mean they are gaining weight from being fixed. I have 3 neutered dogs, one of them, my cairn terrier, gained a lot of weight, and I have to really monitor what he eats. The other two, also small dogs, did not gain any weight.

if you keep them exercised they shouldnt gain alot of weight, its all in genetics really, and Siamese are not big cats, just keep their food monitored,no overfeeding, and make sure they get exercise since they will be together thats better as they can play together.
