He could be allergic to a flea bite the vet will give you an anti inflammitary (sp?) injection, which will stop his skin getting irritated, it's a very common thing. You might want to look into that. Good luck!!

My cat does this all the time. I first started putting a little oil or cream on her skin. It could be that she has very dry skin and it's just bothering her a lot. Second even though you may not think she has fleas it could be a flea or another type of bug. Also how many times you give her a bath could defiantly contribute to her dry skin. Indoor cats do not need a bath more than once every 3-6 months, depending on how well your cat takes care of itself. The reason cats do not need a lot of baths is that they wash themselves every day, all day.
So what I would do is if you are giving her a bath more than once every three months, I would wait a little longer before her next bath, and maybe put a little olive oil on her skin. She will probably not like it and lick it all away, but at least she will have something on it.
And with the hair ball problem, have you tried butter? they usually take that at the end of your finger. But if even after eating that and it's still having problems I would take it to the vet and see if it has asthma. Yes cats can get it, mine does.

It's food allergies.
Read the label on the cat food bag. Corn, wheat, soy, and any chemicals are causing the cat to have itchy skin. The only way cats can itch some places is to lick. It keeps itching, so they keep licking, and bald spots occur.
Switch foods.
Find one with all natural ingredients and no corn or wheat. Look for Innova, California Natural, Wellness or Felidae. They're good foods.
Pet stores have hairball remedies. They're cheap and work like a charm. You can use small amounts of butter (NOT margarine) or olive oil.
Cheers.

My cat started licking himself a lot and I found chunks on hair he had been pulling out - tried the sprays and a steroid pill - vet thought it might be a allergy to a food he developed - nothing worked - so the vet tried prozac - for anxiety - I know I know prozac but it works!!!! He doesn't pull out his hair or lick anymore - other then normal cleaning. He has to be on it for 6 months - tapper off and then he can be off of it - also works for cat spraying.
Try the cat treats for hairball - soft ones and then add it to his food as directed during the week.

This is a good guide with a step-by-step method to get your hair back http://hairagain.toptips.org/
Male hair loss is the most common type of hair loss. It's caused by increased sensitivity to male sex hormones (androgens) in certain parts of the scalp, and is passed on from generation to generation. There are many factors that can attribute to hair recession or massive hair fall. You can try to regain your full head of healthy hair by following natural methods: they are cheaper, they have no side effect and very often more effective than conventional one.
As said above an interesting guide you can follow to get your hair back and prevent future hair loss without dangerous chemicals and drugs, and without expensive supplements or painful hair transplants is available on this site: http://hairagain.toptips.org/

There are many methods to make our hair grow faster, shine , glitter in natural ways without using chemicals. Learn here https://tr.im/4ZFJJ
Men, and sometimes women, notice that their hair is thinning prematurely for several different reasons. Age, menopause, pregnancy, genetics, illness, and other factors all play a role in hair loss.
Sure, you can use drugs or you can go in for a hair transplant or fusion, but sometimes the easiest, most inexpensive solution, is to try to stop hair loss naturally.

Brushing their fur always helps, but also, to help them with the hairballs, just give them a little bit of butter and it helps them get it through their system. I tried this with my cat, and it really works. And he loves the tasty treat!

feed the cat that needs to get rid of the hair ball grass.... it helps them throw up what they dont need... the hair and keep what they do... my cats love to eat grass even when they dont need to throw up. it helps keep their stomachs balanced.
the cat licking itself could be under a stress you aret aware of or have a skin problem the vet will probably give you a cream to rub on it or a special shampoo. or it could be if you are cleaning her tom much... just like if you wash ur hair to much it will get dry and unhealthy cats need their natural oils to help keep their skin hydrated so try only giving her a towel bath like ever 2 months.
