UNDER WEIGHT/(possible) EATING DISORDER?
Hi, my name is Annie. I'll be 20 next month, I'm 5'3" and only weigh 96 lbs. I need to know what I can to do gain weight easily. I've always had a problem with eating. Don't get me wrong I love being skinny but I don't look healthy skinny. I skip meals daily. When I get too hungry I don't eat. It physically makes me sick to even try to eat. I usually skip breakfast also. Thinking about eating in the morning also makes me feel physically sick. SO what can I do to fix this problem because it seems my health is decreasing. Lately twice or so every month I will randomly pass out, even when I'm driving. (which is extremely dangerous I might add) I've been to the Doctor and she just thinks it's anxiety so she put me on Paxil.
So any advice anyone could give me that might help my situations?

try eating just a little at meal times, even if you feel sick
have something small then gradually eat more at meals
also try to have 6-8 glasses of water a day
and make sure your getting some sort of exercise each day
and take a multi vitamin along with eating

You probably have anemia too. Try eating a small breakfast and don't skip meals. Add fat to your diet wherever you can. With how little you weigh fat wont hurt you in fact it can help a lot! I recommend drinking whole milk with your breakfast (whole milk is only 4% fat which is a lot less then what some other things have) Try yogurt it's easy on the stomach. If you like oatmeal add some ground ginger to it ginger calms the stomach and stops nausea (it even works for morning sickness)
Your problem sounds like it is more mental then it is physical. Tell yourself that it is good to eat or associate food with something good like if you enjoy watching movies then eat while watching.
If you are not used to eating then your body may try to fight you by feeling nauseous. Try starting by eating a small amount of food a few times a day (at least 5). Slowly increase how much you are eating and lessen the frequency of eating to keep it balanced. Saltine Crackers may help.
With passing out try some high fiber and iron foods.
Eating may be difficult at first so start off with drinking 100% juices whether it be fruit and veggie or both. It will help in giving you the nutrition without eating. You can also add protein powder to it to help in getting more nutrition. However, don't use it to replace food.
I hope that helps.

Look up selective eating disorder online and see if that sounds like what you have. This could be something wrong physically or you might have a strong gag reflex. You can check with another doctor maybe. Get lab work done. Try to buy Ensure and drink a couple of those each day since they are 350 calories and contain a lot of nutrients.

i dont have your probleme, but have you considered eating a lot of empty calories like doughnuts, pepsi or other junk food? Maybe if you try working up a hunger like a hard workout, because obviously you don't want to gain fat and a little muscle wont be so bad so try going to the gym but be careful because your body will need even more calories then if you staid sedentary.
