Why does my cat always try to have relations with the blanket?

Every night our cat waits until we are both in bed then he starts kneading and biting and trying to have relations with our blanket. And every night we end up pushing him off the bed, not violently, we don't beat our cat, but he keeps trying until eventually after about 4 or 5 times he gives up and finally lays down and goes to sleep. Is there something we can do to help discourage his behavior? He is our first cat. The rest of the time he is fairly well behaved.

Greetings from the Tropics of South Florida,

I couldn't help but laugh when I read your dilemma. Cats can be crazy creatures and they can go bonkers sometimes. I find them to be entertaining.. I can tell you this problem might now go away.

And it is a little problem.

My son when he was little couldn't go to bed with out his blanket, Micheal Jackson his smallest child wanted his blanket.I think your cat is a sweetheart and needs his blanket too. Have you thought of getting him a soft blanket of his own. I don't understand the biting part.

But your cat sounds like he's a character.

    Good Luck

Okay - first off the kneading is NOT a bad thing at all. The kneading comes from when they are kittens when they tried getting milk from their mommy. If he kneads you - it's a compliment - he's considering you to be his mom, and his protector. As for any biting or "relations" - you need to neuter your animal. Unless you plan to breed your pet, it's better for everyone - including your kitty.

well animal humping is a sign of domanance so possibly he is trying to dominate youre blanket?? it seems like a very odd situation but you may want to get him fixed so he doesnt spray later down the line.

Your cat should be neutered if you want him to stop this behavior.
