Trinitarians, can you explain Isaiah 11:2, 3?

It says: "And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears." (KJV)

If Jesus and the holy spirit are also God, how does the spirit of himself come to be on himself?

How does he gain understanding from himself?

Update:

So am I to understand that the spirit of the LORD has more wisdom than the LORD or than Jesus?

There are 1000's of scriptures that show the trinity is a false belief, you can quote them, write them down & send them, you can show them were Christ says he did not come to do his will, he came to do the will of his Father, Jesus even said the Father is greater then he is, IT DOES NOT MATTER, they are blind, they can't see, their eyes are wide open but their minds are blind, 2 Co4:4 explains why, Satan has blinded their minds, he's turned them into goats, stubborn bull headed not open to any form of reasoning.

Ps 110:1 says that the LORD said to the Lord to set a his right hand, this is a simple, one can not set to the right of himself, but those that believe in the trinity can't see, their minds are blind. You can lead a horse(trinitarian) to water(truth), but you can't make him drink(see the truth).

Hard question this. You find God praying to Himself. In the end of Jesus' life He gave his spirit to the Father and at this stage did it mean we had just the two left (Father and Holy Spirit)?

  • 1 decade ago

    Ah here's a new one:

"Its like steam, water & ice.. They are all different essentially, but all are made of H20."

If they are three SEPARATE persons why is the Holy Spirit non capable of "resting" or "pouring" "himself" on God's Anointed One? Why does the FATHER have to do it!?

    EDIT:

"ginosko0- the "spirit of the Lord" IS the Holy Spirt. Ignorant."

The Spirit OF the Lord means it BELONGS to someone, did you miss "OF"?. I thought you guys believed the HS to be a separate being, therefore "he" should be able to do things on his own and not need to be sent by someone else! But I guess you were more concerned with the name calling than focusing on what I had wrote in my response.

And calling me ignorant doesn't really help your position. How immature.

    ***EDIT***

"The HS is his own person, but the "of" reiterates that the HS is of the Godhead."

Does that sound like a LOGICAL statement?

    If I say:

"the property OF John" does that mean that the property is part of John or it belongs to John?

I say not one single denomination out there can rightly explain this, for trinity is wrong and the Jesus-is-God theory is also wrong.

There is no such thing as any 'incarnate god', which both false doctrines teach. Mary was no mother of God, for God has no mother. God is a spirit.

Jesus was a man. God is not a man, nor the Son of man, yet every church out there denies this and calls it a lie. Jesus was not God. Jesus was a human being, whom God chose and set his Holy Spirit upon, giving Jesus the greatest of power and knowledge of the Holy, as Jesus chose to live his entire life perfect before God.

The Spirit of the Lord God was upon Jesus, because he anointed Jesus. Acts 10...God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and power.

So at his resurrection, Jesus was made to be God with the God kingdom. We are told to now worship him as our Lord and our God.

So the Spirit of the Lord God is upon Jesus, thus he is the Lord God. He became one with the Lord God or was 'married' to the Lord God. They became ONE. The two shall be one flesh. Jesus did not teach himself; God taught him. God empowered Jesus. Jesus said my Father is greater than I. It means his heavenly father, not a natural dad.

God gave Jesus the Holy Ghost when Jesus was baptized.

How can so many miss this simple truth?

If Jesus had been God, he would not have needed God to give him the Holy Ghost. So the Holy Ghost could not be Jesus himself. It is the spirit of God.

So much glory to be taught here, but who has ears to hear it?

Edit:> teeM. You said Jesus, aka God the son. Where? What shows that in Scripture? it is a man made lie. No such term is in God's word. so how do you say, aka God the son? He is not known by that in Scripture, only by man's false doctrines.

Answered easily: the Father , Son and Holy Spirit are distinct persons of the One Eternal God of Love

You do not know the Trinitarian Doctrine

    Check out the Athanasian Creed

Because they aren't all 1 person.

They are 3 persons that are one entity.

Its like steam, water & ice.. They are all different essentially, but all are made of H20.

EDIT: ginosko0- the "spirit of the Lord" IS the Holy Spirt. Ignorant.

EDIT2: No, I didn't miss the "OF" ... The HS is his own person, but the "of" reiterates that the HS is of the Godhead. They are all one, yet being their own persons. Its difficult if not impossible to understand. Calling you ignorant wasn't meant to be an insult. You don't understand, that's why you are arguing with what the Bible says. "the natural mind cannot understand the things of God" - 1 Cor 2:14.

    Nice question.

When you get an honest answer to it. Also please find out why

Jesus (aka God the Son) also had to learn obedience.

Who does God have to be obedient to?

Heb 5:8 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.

Since it was Satan who caused his suffering, why did God have learn from Satan?

Also, if Jesus was "the" Son of God, why does Paul say he is "a Son"?

I am no "Trinitarian", but I believe I CAN explain this apparent "contradiction" quite clearly for you; the bible is a work of "creative fiction" written by literally dozens of deluded individuals convinced (or hoping to convince others) they were being 'Guided by God'....it is RIDDLED with errors, inconsistencies & just plain contradictions. It is CLEARLY not the work of any god! You really should read all of it sometime, then this fact would become very apparent to you!

    In case you are just too busy to do that, here's a list of a few hundred of the mis-statements of verifiable fact, and another of the "internal contradictions";

    http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/science/long...

    http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/by_na...

Whether "God is One" or "God is Three" is among the LEAST ridiculous contradictions in the Bible! Have you never read Genesis 1:1-2:3 & compared what it says with Genesis 2:4-25? Did God make Man (then everything else) or did God make everything else (then Man)?

CLEARLY the bible is not the "Word of God"! God would have done a far better job of editing & proof-reading!

First I would like to explain you are one person and are made up of body and spirit.

God created you in his own image greater than the animals that perish with their flesh but with an eternal spirit.'

Are you saying that your spirit is not you?

I usually don't attempt to explain spiritual revelation because it by definition is revealed by God through the Holy Spirit.

Jesus himself explains that unless a man is born again which is born of the spirit which is born of God through the atonement of Jesus, he can not see the kingdom of heaven.

It is through realizing your need for God, that you are a sinner and God is righteous that you will accept the answer which is the atonement Jesus provides for your sin,

It is through being born again that you receive the Holy Spirit to guide you in truth greater than flesh and blood.

God is an eternal spirit and his truth is greater than finite, sinful flesh but is revealed through the spirit.

    edit to Teem.

The Son became flesh, the reason was your salvation it was man who sinned.. Jesus was a man and suffered to be a man and learned as a man and overcame temptation sin and death as a man under the law.. it was man who sinned and man who is under law...God was not under law.

You guys seem to miss the obvious point we all understand Jesus was a man...seems it confuses you that God became a man...The trinity is not saying Jesus was not a man but that Jesus is the Son who is God who became flesh for your salvation.

Teem having trouble with the English language now?

Jesus is the Son of God is is also a son of God.

You are the son of your father and a son of your father.

Jesus is also the only begotten Son of God.

I am not the only begotten son of my father but am a son of my father and if I were his only son I would still be a son of my father.

Please look up the meaning of the word suffer. When the Bible says the Son suffered to be a man, it is not implying Satan is causing his suffering, Where are you getting that?

When the Son became a man it was a loss for our sake.

God suffered to be a man. He became a man and hungered and was cold and felt pain as a man...this is confusing for you?

Jesus learned as a man dependent on his Father in heaven as you should put your flesh in submission ot the spirit.

This is all in the Bible.
