Really yummy rum cake recipe?

My friend is turning 21 soon, and I want to make her a rum cake. I made one before, but it wasn't very good...Does anybody have a really good recipe?

Or any other idea to make a cake/dessert with liquor? Thanks!!

This recipe came to me from a 94 y/o lady. Her rum cakes are always so good and a bit strong. <tee hee>

    Freda’s Rum Cake

1 (18½ oz) box Duncan Hines Butter Yellow Cake Mix

    1 cup chopped pecans

    ½ cup cold water

1 (3 ¾ oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix

    4 eggs

    ½ cup vegetable oil

½ cup dark rum, 80 proof

Preheat oven to 325ºF; grease and flour Bundt pan. Sprinkle pecans in the bottom and up the sides of the pan as well. Mix remaining ingredients together until batter is smooth. Pour batter over nuts in pan. Bake for 1 hour until toothpick comes out clean.

    ¼ lb. brown sugar

    1 cup white sugar

    ¼ cup water

    ½ cup dark rum

Combine sugars and water in a pan and boil for 5 min. Remove from heat and add rum. After baking and while the cake is still in the pan, pour glaze slowly over and down the sides of the cake. Allow cake to set for 15 min, then invert pan onto a cake plate. Keep the cake covered with the Bundt pan until cake has cooled.

The most amazing rum cake is Trinidadian black rum cake. It takes several days to make.( You can take shortcuts, just skip the aging steps, and do it all in one day.) It is SO worth the trouble. You can buy these cakes pre-made online, but they cost $50 to $100. Here is a link for a recipe. The only hard ingredient to find is Angostura Bitters. A bottle can often be bought at a serious liqueur store or wine shop. Buy this first as it may not be available in your area. The trickiest part is burning the sugar. The oddest part is the cooking it in wax paper. This helps keep the outside from burning.
